People , forget all this and look for a better future. Why we haven't overcome all this , is because of people like you and me , who never wanted to come out of hindu muslim theory. Whatever we say , we keep in our mind.

Well, This partly stems from the fact that India does not have an Uniform Civil Code. When the Law of the Land itself treats people based on the religion, we cant expect people living there to behave more responsibly.
This is really sad. One way to change it would be to enforce it. If someone is not allowed privileges to a particular facility/service, she must have the option of launching a complaint to a body that handles such discriminatory matters. Discrimnations based on religion, race, caste, sex etc. needs to be stamped out forcefully.
In the US too there are localities that are predominately black, or Indian, or White -- and it's alright to be comfortable with the ones of the same feather. But if someone tells you that you can't move in just because you're a minority in the area you can take that guy to court (that guy's in for severe trouble).
