The article seems to have been written with a close at Nepal situation. As mentioned in the article India has a big role to play in solving the Nepal crisis. Among various options one which i find more appropriate is- India supporting the alliance of Neplese parties and maoists. This option looks uneasy. But in the long term this is the only option which will solve the crisis. Nepal king is like a jackle. You can never trust this guy. he has the habit of saying one thing and doing another. In his last meeting with priminister Manmohan singh, he promossed mr. singh that he would bring back the democracy in Nepal and allow release all the political leaders. But what he is doing is giving Nepal army more power and arresting top opposition leader like Mahdav Nepal. He doesnt dare to listen anyone. He is no different than Mr. Mussharaff. I find Mr. Musharraf more democratic than Nepal king. He thinks his forefather united Nepal and its his inhertary right to rule Nepal in whatever way he wants to. According to economists nepal is going to be bankcrupt after few months.I dont agree with One of the Nepal expert that India should support him.
One look at the Nepali political parties and you realize they're a bunch of childlike, infantile squabbling children, totally incapable of creating any kind of stable govt, either in coalition or on thier own. One can almost see why an exasperated King Gyanendra threw out those bumbling, bungling fools and idiots, and took matters into his own hands. So, in her own national intersts, India must take whatever steps necessary to help in the creation of at least one cohesive, well-structured national party, say the Nepali Congress, otherwise, Nepal will be mired in turmoil and Maoist insurgency for decades to come, which can only ascerbate the already widespread Maoist insurgency in India itself. It's time for the wonks in Delhi to do some real thinking, and fast!
