Judas Traitor or not?
by TG on Apr 07, 2006 09:35 PM  Permalink

I don't think it really matters. For Christians, the fact of Christ dying on the cross for them is crucial and not the point of whether he was genuinely betrayed or falsely betrayed.

Judas the traitor
by bobby on Apr 07, 2006 09:15 PM  Permalink

It was written that Judas will betray Jesus and so it happened - The Son of Man was betrayed into the hands of Gentiles. Judas could not have written anything for he committed suiscide even before Jesus was crucified. He bore no witness to the resurrection. The Gospel of Judas is fit only to be in a museum and not to be ready by any one.

Judas' betrayal cannot be glorified.
by Mark Lynn on Apr 07, 2006 09:04 PM  Permalink

Jesus telling Judas to do what he has to do is not a a wrong assessment. After all jesus knew who was to betray him. But Jesus outrightly encouraging Judas does not seem in the nature of Christ. He would not have to coax Judas. The prophecies are fulfilled by acts of God. In that respect Judas' act was part of God's plan but it is not an act that needs to be glorified. His betayal is a reminder to all christians that they betray Christ by acts equivalent to nailing Him to the cross. In that respect Judas murdered the Lord, but his act has taught Christians to repent for any sin that would amount to a renewed murder of Christ, in the spiritual realm.

Comparison
by Eswar on Apr 07, 2006 08:57 PM  Permalink

Would anyone have believed that kanchi shankarachrya would be arrested for murder before the TN govt. actually did.

Believers would still not call him a murderer.

But as time passes he will also be known in the history books as a murderer if convicted by a court.

It just is a heart-breaking incident to any hindu.

I am writing this because many of the christian readers who have posted their comments on this issue still call him a "traitor".

Would Jesus have got His Godly status OR even the respect from believers of other religions(I believe Jesus must have been a really great guy) had he not died the way he actually did.......

Doesn't it prove the necessity that NGC is stating.... ?????????

Time is the answer and also History can be changed very easily ....

my point of view
by Lotty Alaric on Apr 07, 2006 08:48 PM  Permalink

Whether Judas was a traitor or not is not the point. The point is that in this time and age when religious sentiments run really high specially in Israel, India, Pakistan, the middle east and many other countries; these kinds of irrelevant researches do nothing but ignite peoples' sentiments and the so called religious fanatics go to town on a rampage which does no good for anyone. How authentic are these kinds of reports is another imp question.
So I believe that there is no point for the media to highlight such stuff as it does more harm than good.

Stand firm in your faith!
by Lintu Philip on Apr 07, 2006 08:46 PM  Permalink

I see this as another subtle attempt by the
'father of deception' to make believers "question"
the Jesus they believe in.The Evil One got Jesus
crucified.Jesus died on the cross but God raised
Him on the third day! Jesus lives!

The name JESUS is terribly hated (and
feared) in hell(bcoz of what happened in
Calvary).Definitely the Evil One cannot see lives
getting transformed after people receive Jesus
into their lives and resolve to walk in the
Truth.Since he failed (and cannot)do anything to
JESUS himself(or His teachings),he's now trying
to attack the very rock-the FAITH(in Jesus) of
the people.Thats why we are getting to see the
Gospel of Judas,,Gospel of Mary,Da Vinci Code &
such other stuff in this age.We are in the last days. Believers!I urge you not to get distracted.Stand firm in your faith!

Jesus asking to free him from the body.
by Nelson on Apr 07, 2006 08:35 PM  Permalink

The papyrus could be from the 2 Century AD. And clearly speaks of Gnostic ideas. That the material body was evil. Judas is known to have hung himself and he could not have conveyed his thoughts to anyone to write the Gospel of Judas. So surely someone with Gnostic ideas has written it.
