If I were to speculate on the answer to his question pertaining to the hype surrounding India-Paki dialogue, I guess it can be attributed to our marxist-minority controlled media, which is working in concert with foreign powers to subvert the national integrity -- they are hard at work trying to fulfill the colonial legacy of controlling (and eventually destroying India), with willing partnerships from corrupt politicians.
Brahma, In the past 2-3 years i have never come accross such crystal clear, and such indepth analysis on Indian Foreign policy matters. Hats off to you for such apt article, which came out at the right time. I wish the indian political intellencia can learn from you. I am an Indian, who is an MBA from ISB-Wharton, and am presently in the US. I wish this article creates waves in India, the way it should. We in America also felt that the PM \'s visit was a spineless one. The same holds true for Natwar Singh\'s recent visit\'s on foregn soils. He seems to feel so awe-struck meeting world leaders that it seems he would just give away ( read \'oblidged to give away\')India\'s stance on key issues.
This article is a timely advice to Indian leaders who make our foreign policy. Hope they get to read this article. Being pro-active and firm are the ways to deal with Pakistan.
Pakistani rulers want J&K in full. Period. This is their short term goal. The long term may be to recreate J&K adventure in other parts if they succeed here.
The biggest joke in the history of humanity is a country who can't give freedom to their people is promising the same to others.
Numerous foreign policy mistakes are dragging us into deeper troubles in our handling of Pakistan. I still don't understand why we didn't go on the offensive on A.Q Khan's (Al Qaeda Khan) nuclear black market revelations. There was not a single public condemnation of it from any Indian leaders. What, are we trying not to offend them here? If we don't condemn their wrong doing in public, it is only going to embolden them as it has done on many other cases.
While we fully sympathize with Pakistani people, there is no forgiving what their rulers have done and continue to do in the subcontinent over half the century.
Indian leaders, seize the moment and lead us to a better future.
These points could not be more lucidly stated. I hope South Block grows some spine and treats Pakis with the disdain they deserve. If we want to be treated as a world power, we need to be more assertive and take no bull from tinpot dictators.
