RED & GREEN?
by Vinod Tuli on Oct 16, 2005 12:20 AM  Permalink

Mr. Ganguly
Indeed thoughts provoking write - up. But, have you conveniently or otherwise omitted to say/comment on any thing like unabated infiltrations of Bangladeshis into West Bengal, Assam, North Eastern and other States of India - may be resulting into demographic imbalance in the country - presently known as 'Bharat - India - Hindustan' - in a few decades from now? Red turning Green the Babu Chameleon!
by Dharmendra Goel on Oct 15, 2005 09:04 AM  Permalink

Pkl. Saturday, 15th Oct.,2005.
To a certain extent the above remarks of the writer, demonstrate the inevitability of the desire of grass-root cadre inured to enjoy proximity to power
in rural Bengal if not full power, and its determination to hold the turf of electoral strategy ,despite the old Marx disgust with idiocy
of peasant's stagnant existence..Green talk is glorification of non-activity that characterises
the aeons of sterile unchanging Asia over history...
Distinguished celebrities Arundhiti and Medhaji are
are unconscious instruments of western hegemonic dominance on the suffering East...D. Goel

A good Analysis
by Abhishek Gautam on Oct 15, 2005 08:37 AM  Permalink

A good insightful article over the pitiable condition of the Reds who have always refused to see truth in the proper light believing in the 19 th century Marxian society. Like other countries,it is time these "intellectuals"are delivered final demise from Indian political scene, which was long overdue to them...

There's a lot of difference between the hindutva lobby's approach towards vanvasis and the rest of the world

the hindutva lobby is tryin to teach them how good it is to "beat" them with the "whip" called "Hinduism" or "Tranditional nationalism, culturalism.. blah blah".. and also induce them into get whipped..

but on the other side communists are tryin to educate people abt the imperative of globalisation.. but one thing is for sure the communists are not clearly analysing the deep rooted "Shameful" conspiracy created by the "So Called UPPER CASTES" or say "CREATED FROM THE HEAD OF BRAHMA, CREATURES".. that is y they are not able to get the votes like the RSS affiliated Militant outfits have got "in the mask of BJP of course".

The Tagline is.. Hindutva means "Bringing back the BARBARIC RULE of the BRAHMINS where they could rule the country without doing any "WORK AT ALL" but still call them selves divine and sent by god..

And the communists are working towards a equality based world.. where ther is no discrimination based on "CASTE, Investment, Profit, Religion"

Wonder how many "Hindu Militants" have knowledge about Economics like "ALL" Communists do..

Dont be Anti Communist

Why Reds turn green?
by Ramachandra Menon on Oct 15, 2005 05:40 AM  Permalink

Well, Mr.Ganguly, you have said correctly. My request is how the Kerala marxists are different from their W/Bengal friends. Here they oppose ADB loans to the govt. They oppose closure of loss making public sector industries. They oppose every attempt to bring in foreign capital for more industrialisation. Kindly explain. Thousands of hectres of agricultural land is remaining fallow because of the militant agricultural labour. Many small and medium industrial units are shifting from Kerala to neighbouring countries, because of labour problems. Our leftist friends are no less in corrupt practices. Everything was not perfect in their Lavlin canadian deal. They just are engaged in group fighting giving juicy materials for the media to fill their headlines and nothing practical happens.
Now great influx of labour from Bihar, Orissa, and even W/Bengal our jobs are being carried out in the labour intensive units. Even Bangladesi labour is seen in construction sites.

Why not teach our Kerala marxists be taught a lesson or two?

The communists goals are-
1.keep poverty grow
2.keep people illeterate
3.keep population grow so poverty grows and illeteracy grows.
3.make workers as drunkers, indesciplined, make them sink in debts waht not.
4.encourage people like medha patkar, arundhati roys so shout against educated class, disciplined class, har working people, scientific solutions for major issues etc. becuase if people like roy and patakar want to enjoy life and get publicity and fame(ill?) peole should always must be pro reds.
5. we should not allow people should prosper.
did prof amarthya sen solve any poverty related problem in his life time? yet we say he is a humanist and great economist?

Are you still dreaming ?? Wake up ?? Have you even been to Bengal. Its in such a pathetic state that students and young people are all running away to Bangalore, Delhi, Pune and Mumbai. Communists are near the idealist position....haha...i'm sorry to say my friend. Communists have been the reason for the death of Bengal. Only strikes, unions and gossip is all that is left.

So what is wrong with turning green?
by Ramiah Ariya on Oct 14, 2005 08:05 AM  Permalink

With forest coverage dwindling, ground water going down, water wars breaking out, drought conditions prevailing again and again, what is wrong in turning green?
The arguments seem to be split between:
1. Industrialize fast, do not worry about irreversible damages to the environment, do not worry about inequality and social unrest, do not worry about farmer suicides, large scale layoffs and do not worry about making life unlivable for the vast majority of the poor - let them die. Decision making will be top down and centralized. Put up with this kind of industrialization and soon we will all be rich. Wait for the trickle down...
2. Regulate industry with concern for the environment, involve local people in decision making, create social security net, do not pass environmental laws for pleasing corporations, make transitions manageable for the poor and involve them in economic decisions.
I would go with the second argument. We atleast need to realize that the second position is the ideal, and the communists are closest to that position. Economic development is useless if decision making is centralized (corporate friendly) and the environment is not cared for.

Stop defining yourself!
by Venkatesh on Oct 14, 2005 07:14 AM  Permalink

Defniately an interesting article.

People today need to stop attaching themselves to a political ideal. Instead they should look for who is providing ideas and resources for the development of the society and nation. A political party with an ideal usually caters only for a certain section of the society.

Opposing hydro-electricity so that we don't become part of the consumer-driven economies is stupid. After all can not we say, we will only use what we need. There is nothing wrong with this ideal because it benefits all...

So the communists are wrong and so are the capatilists... we need a middle ground!

Venkatesh
