Rajev is over confident

Business relationship has to be win - win one. It can not be win -loose for either party. Indian leadership has taken a bold decision by having agreed to take a step towards agreement , and now ball is in US court. It is easy to assume that India could have acted otherwise and US would have come to knees . What would have happened to US public opinion , on all the aspects that benefits currently India , like offshoring / techniology transfer / NRI remittance etc. ? It is easier said then done.. any wrong moves on this issue would have turned american public opinion negatively about india , then even bush would not have come out for india..Beware!

excellent article

Highly thought provoking as always from Rajiv Srinivasan. Thank you. If our politicians and burocrats are only half this clear, India could have been
the UNSC permanent member a long time ago for all the
stuff we bought from American, Russian and other
europian countries and would not have been pathetically struggling to save J&K, talking to dictators like Musharraf :(

Great,I love it.Mr Rajeev Srinivasan speak my tongue. Why indians dont have any confidence in themself? Why they are so sissy? Indians are capable
of doing any thing they want, instead of asking for the help to the foreign countries.

Standing up to America

The author has made a moot point but how can one expect the current bunch of babus in MEA to rise above NAM mentality when their boss, our external affairs minister, is himself from the NAM days and surely carries baggage from that period. We need a fresh mindset, something Congress party can never give.

Standing upto America

Day dreaming it is all.
In fact for the first time Indians have shown shrewdness. I totally welcome this move to veto Iran.

BE POSITIVE
by Jay on Oct 05, 2005 12:26 AM  Permalink

Bravo Rajeev,
Thats the attitude we all need and more so our govt. Our prez mr. Kalam knows,..."Strength respects Strength". If we dont' show any strength how can anyone respect us.

Yeah I was very surprised to see so much commitments on indian side and none (atleast apparently) from US. nobody tells us what will we gain from this deal and more so What made US of all to come for this deal??

Thanks

Jay

Diplomacy Basics
by Kundan Kumar Lucky on Oct 04, 2005 07:38 PM  Permalink

There are no permanent friends or permanent enemies...there are only permanent interests

Only if our diplomats and politicians remembered that. We need Iran as much (or less) as Iran needs us. Same goes with the US. The former needs to sell the oil and the latter needs to invest its money in a growing economy. We should focus towards exploiting this favourable world order. Otherwise we will be left out once more in the race...
