So, is the autor trying to say that whatever is been followed in Chennai is wrong? If that is the case, what you think of culture then? kissing in public places and going for discos in midnight is what culture is? When the western countries are looking for India to adapt the traditional values over here, why are we looking to them to adapt their culture? In the capital city of India, everyday in newspapers you could find rapes in some part of the city. why is it more in delhi not in Chennai?
The Engineering colleges need to be strict, Professionalism is not going to come just in a single day. Anna University which is one among the top universities in india, is having some ethics for itself. These should not get destroyed by the name of modernization.
If a young couple is hugging in a beach or park, what should the big brother do? should he smile at them and move on his way?
There may be few mistakes in big brother's approach, but it doesn't mean that these discos and pubs are maintaining the culture!!!
We need to adapt the better things from western society. With a small population they are able to stand tall in economy, sports and many other fields, we need to look at those.
I guess the writer must be in an inarberted mode when he wrote .. i hv been here all my life and though the city might be looking a little conservative ... i guess the writer went overdrive in making chennai look like a medival city ...
I guess rediff better start off editing what they put online ... for the betterment of one and all ...
What message you want to spread? You want India should become a western country only in the matter of open sex? Why don't you talk about deteriorating Indian culture? Do you think Indian culture is so worse that one should spit on it and hug western culture (progressive open sex)? Would you allow your kids to engage in sex in front of you or in your drawing room while dancing in a party? May be you people would allow to satisfy your western gurdians.
Is this all true? if it is then. we are seeing the biggest hypocrisy in reality. the big brothel might even arrest me for voicing against him.chennai must be becoming a big brother state. may god enlighten chennai. Amen
parts of this article look exaggerated especially scene 5...nevertheless...if it's true, then one wonders if people in this country have no better business than to raise hue and cry over non-issues...lets divert our energies towards more constructive ideas and let people be as they want to be...if not for anything ..atleast for the sake of democracy, which is what this country epitomises.
I'm very proud to be in Chennai. Becoz atleast only we are taking care of our Whole Indian Culture in our shoulders. Please dont post this type of stupid articles in Rediff.
What do you want to see in India ?
Boy & girl locks lips on a public place. Did u allow ur sister, wife, children doing that ?
Colleges is only for studying purpose. Its not a fashion ground
Try to follow that. If you can't do that, please avoid making comments.
In a state that boasts of female foeticide, animal sacrifice, bull-baiting, and other retrograde barbaric practices, suddenly dress-codes, parties, free speech have become a danger to our society?
Thanks for bringing to the forefront the pettiness that dogs this "oh-so-cultural" city. It really is high time that we behave like a real democracy and let people express themselves in whichever way they may please. Maybe Big Brother could divert his attention to more pressing issues like corruption in the ranks of his fellow enforcers of the law, and of course, the way too difficult job of identifying the real criminals!
