it is the same in most places these struggles happen as cities become more metro, so the good news is that it is making nes, 5 years ago nobody would have even reported on it, and 5 years from now these incidents would have faded and the Big Brother would have died of a heart attack
Chennai women protested against that actress for ridiculing the pre-maritial virginity. I don't see anything wrong in it, it is indeed the indian culture to not have sex before marriage. Even the actress apologized for it. I guess Shobha Warrier doesn't like the concept of pre-marital virginity. God knows what she advises her young aquaintances. This is quality of media and so-called 'english educated' indians. Even westerners don't advise such things to their children though they are not able to stop them.
This is crazy, I am a great fan of Chennai and Channaivasi's but tactics like gate crashing into a hotel and creating scenes is bringing down the image of a great and city and its people

We all know, films are not representing actual Indian society. There are reel and real lifes. What's wrong if the Big brother wants to preserve some social values?

At least one could face up the reality and accept the facts. I was surprised by the kind of comments we have for this article.
This article just about brings everything that chennai is, to the table. Intolerance - moral, behavioural, language, you name it, it's there. I was appalled at reading about what actress Khushboo faced after her comments on safe sex and pre-marital virginity, and the fact is, it's reality today, whether you want to accept it or not! Indians will never have the guts to face up to something when it socks them in the face. But they are all game for carrying on something clandestinely, be it in relationships, or politics. Chennai-ites are fine with the fat thighs, open mouth kissing and sexual innuendoes on screen, but you talk about it in print, and you've had it!

...but just because u've done it why do u want to believe that everyone else have also done it. It also seems that u believe the concept of a 12 year gal getting pregnant just because she wants to do so, to be right. This happens every now and then in the western culture...coz their parents have no say on their kids(ofcourse not all). Y my 12 year old sis doesn't do the same is because we have our kinda societal impacts which governs our day to day activities. I want my sis to be good and safe...thats all I want from my society...and thats exactly y humans started to create concepts of families and society, I believe. He didn't want his kith and kin to be harmed... only a societal concept provided him with maximum protection.
So if try to legalize all the behind the veil issues then u sud be really ready face the consequences. R u ready really?
Kissing in public was long accepted in this Tamilian society in the stone ages...along with that raping(public or not) was also accepted. Hope u get my point...
Hi That was a good one! im sure thats what exactly happens well we all lead a life dominated by social restrictions. These have more chances of provoking this(younger) generation ,rather than stopping them. Its a good thing that we can put hard rules atleast on these things, bcos these are very important than CORRUPTION(everywhere) ROWDISM ILICIT DRUGS CHILD EMPLOYMENT etc. Unfortunately the only persons who can stop these things are either doing these, or supporting these. The pathetic state of our state. Lets hope it changes with the next generation. cheers.
I am a doctor working in UK, who graduated from Bangalore. I have many software professionals and doctors as my friends from all over India. I could sense the uneasiness among the professionals especially from Tamilnadu, when they interact with their opposite sex.I WILL BLAME ENTIRELY ON THE COLLEGES AND SCHOOLS, they studied for this. There are many colleges in Tamilnadu, who restrict interaction between boys and girls and wearing modern dress. Many Engineering colleges, named among the top ranking private colleges do this. DO YOU KNOW THE RESULT: Tamilian professionals' confidence goes down, when it comes to dressing in the western countries.Well..I hope all the engineers will aspire to go to other countries atleast on short visits. They are more hesitant and less convincing when they have to interact with their opposite sex. These things will seriously undermine their confidence. We need to realise that we are not limited to just our state, we get to meet so many people from other states and other countries. Sadly none of our guys know Hindi..our official language. I was shamed here, when I could not respond to her back in Hindi, by my English consultant. Let's get smart pls...

That was good suggestion to allow ppl to interact...gals and boys.
Don't u think u miss a point completely. How long will u bend urself to satisfy the other ppl? Use ur own dresses and codes and u will feel a lot confident...it is only when u act like the other u loose confidence. We sud also have a belief in our tradition and culture.
It is a good thing to learn a language, be it Hindi or whatever...but it is ridiculous to claim that we have learn all the languages as the world is becoming a global village. Try to learn a language...or hire one who cud do that. Afterall language is just for communication and our time is too short.
Of course you should not kiss your wife by kept open your home as well as kept open your bed room, in that case Bigbrothers may come to stop. For that life you have to go europe or america, where you can find a place you can go around without any dress and also no need to dare to kiss wherever you want. Note that there also you can do all the things in specific place not everywhere do you want.
