This was an Exaggerated Narration by the author. you should not victimize any place based on some action. Each and every place has it's positives and negatives.
Please think twice before publishibng these type of articles.
We are in India not in USA or in any other foreign country.
Hey guys what the hell is going on... dont write things as if you were one of them...when did u guys see thses things in chennai?? 20 yrs back??
do u know how many ppl kiss in the public in chennai...go see a movie thetre in chennai guys...u wont see the movies....go to the beach you can see almost all the copules kiss...all thses are some stupid junk... listen to your self before writing these things...have you been to all the engineering colleges in chennai ???
Before picking things on chennai, have a look at other cities and news in and aroud those cities...we tend to remember all the negatives even thay are small....pls change your attitude..
I agree there are some stupid rules in some stupid colleges ...but look overall...
In the name of Globalization U feel all blah blahs should be allowed to happen. Its a propoaganda by non Tamils to show Tamils and in Particular Chennai in bad light.
Some section of our Indian society bores a negative look about non-hindi speaking states. This should change first.
Just tell whether you will abhore your traditions for the sake of globalization/westernization which will finally add to the crime rates in society and to the detrimental of the so called Indian Values ?!!
Chennai is not much different from other major cities like Mumbai where Moral policing is common. However, chennai can be better if we take a few more things positively.
The backlash to what Khushboo said was totally uncalled for. She was primarily passing on her thoughts and was actually educating the people. In her statment too, she does mention that "no EDUCATED man will ...". All those who have not understood must probably be uneducated and superstitious people who are unable to accept the truth and are unable to change with time...
"In an age when all the saints itself are not doing the right things ... of all people ... a few politicians are raising their voice!"
I am sure that most people in chennai understand the changing times, but we cant expect people to come out on the road and shout slogans in support of what Khushboo said. However we can definitely write and support her views on leading Indian websites like rediff.
Well Said Khushboo.
I would also like to complement Shobha Warrier for throwing some light on the recent happenings in Chennai. Good Work
I do not know whether the author is making fun or praising the attitude of the chennai culture. If he/she meant to make fun of this culture I have some comments.
If the people in Chennai are not interested in expressing their love in public let them do not do it. Please do not try to change the culture of Chennaites. What is hurting you if the Chennai people are not interested in expressing their mutual love in Public. It's upto every induvidual whether they need to follow their culture. Do not force any one.

but Babunath the issue is that there are people in Chennai who are willing to express their love in public. So why are they being stopped ? The article does not say that the people are stopping couples, it is only the police.
The sort of moral policing that's now going on in Chennai is worse than the one indulged in by the Shivsena activists in Maharashtra and elsewhere. This is sickening, to say the least. Haven't the authorities heard of such a thing as individual freedom and privacy? As long as the people are not infringing upon the rights of others and/or causing public nuisance, they ARE entitled to do whatever pleases them. Scenes 2, 3 and 4 are not pieces of fiction, but real incidents. One of my friends is doing his MBA at Styabama Institute where you can't even talk to students of opposite sex. What's this progressive city coming to? Anna University VC imposes dress code saying sleaveless tops etc would distract boy students. IMO, if they do get distracted, then they aren't coming there for studying, but for ogling at girls. Should you tell students over 18 (who have voting rights) what to wear? Is this the job that the VC is paid for?
not intearcting with the opposite sex does not make u chaste or safe. it makes u a frog in the well ........just loosen up and face sex insteadof shying away from it . its unhealthy
I personally been hurt by seeing this article. This gives complete reverse opinion about our city. Even the statement is true on the article, I beleive India should be rich on culture and Family. I donot think so people should kiss in public or have a disco cultures in india.
The article published here gives an impression that Every engineering student should go to park have a kiss with his Girl Friend or go to Disco's have sex or loss virginity before Marriage.
Iam going to file a case against you guys if you donot apologize for this kind of ridiculous articles. Being a number one web maganize i guess this is not in tollarate level.
