He should be given death penalty only for the reason he killed innocent people in The bombay serial blasts. This crime it self is the reason to give him death penalty.

Death Penalty
by Fran on Nov 13, 2005 01:38 PM  Permalink

As far as the government is concerned, I do not think they had a choice. It was either give the undertaking or forget about Salem.
I am personally against the death penalty as it does not really serve the purpose of justice. Many criminals are more than happy to die. Look at suicide bombers. A better way of delivering justice is to put them through rigorous rounds of punishment like 7 lashes, locking them in a stinking toilet for a couple of hours a day, using them as life-long labourers etc. Sessions on reforming themselves should also be held in order to help them reform. It is only the fear of a life of torture that will prevent others from comitting similar crimes.

Could we find any severe penalty than death?
by Sameer Patro on Nov 13, 2005 01:25 PM  Permalink

Its quite surprising for another country to

encroach the law & order system of India, where

the offender is charged. Well, the word offender

is probably still a respectable word for the kind of

criminal activity this man has calculated. Keeping

the humanitarian ground, its perhaps okay to

forgive a single major crime but if we look at the

history of this desperado the elasticity of

humanitarian is lost. Its for sure a multiple death

penalty. If our law and order system doesnt

recognizes its own principles, the countrymen

might lose faith in it or for that matter, if the

judiciary system cant award a death penalty to

this man, then they should bring back all the dead

penalised to life, since they did commit less

gauged crime than this offender.

For Gods sake for Peoples sake for our

futures sake lets not encourage crime where

the penalties are nimble. Itll bring more crime in

action and for that matter more criminals. Its time

our country becomes more practical. Its

important. Its crucial.
