Abu Salem - Death sentence
by Jatinder on Nov 13, 2005 06:45 PM  Permalink

ABU SALEM is accountable for series of blasts in 1993 in Bombay and many other criminal activities in India.

He has killed hudreds of innocent people. Do we need any other evidence to pass on Capital punishment to him. He should be hanged immediately to teach others a good lesson otherwise only GOD can save our country.

Death penalty?
by Richard on Nov 13, 2005 06:38 PM  Permalink

The Indian government has no choice in this matter; why is this question being asked??

The issue should actually be: hey guys, look - justice can be fulfilled without stooping to the killer's level; Europe proves it. Let's therefore follow their civilised lead in abolishing this disgraceful judicial killing spree, and act as a developed country for a change.

Death Penalty to Abu Salem
by kanaka durga on Nov 13, 2005 06:31 PM  Permalink

I would only like to know whether death penalty can be applied selectively? How come the perpetrators of rape and murder of muslim women and young children in Bhagalpur,Bombay,Meerut,UP,Gujrat and many more such riots are still roaming free in India while questions are being raised as to whether or not death penalty is to be awarded to salem. Why is not death penalty being awarded to those who instigated the riots of 1993 and those who actually were involved in it.What about those who demolised the historic mosque at Ayodhya? The monorities have already lost confidence in the police and the beuraucacy.I hope and pray that they donot loose hope in our judicial system as well.

I see the bombay blasts as a retaliation to the demolition of the mosque and the crimes committed by the police and the hindu fundamentalists against the innocent muslims of bombay and elsewhere at that time and nothing more than that.

If at all he is to be tried and awarded death penalty it should be for the crimes in which he was involved before the blasts. If he is awarded death penalty for the bombay blasts selectively I would consider it a travesty of justice.

As the saying goes "if one Osama Bin Laden dies..there are several more out there..".What is the point in penalizing one Abu Salem. Inturn we should identify the people who have helped him, helping him, no matter there status and then charge all of them. This would be a better approach according to my opinion.

Death Penalty
by Rajesh on Nov 13, 2005 06:09 PM  Permalink

I personally dont think that terrorist should be given a chance to escape the death penalties, just because of some whimsical strategies of the indian judiciary system. There is no point in adhering to the odd assurances or undertaking given by the govt. to the portugals. Whats more important is that this person has committed a serious offense against India, and keeping in view the feelings and the responsibility towards the people of this country. he should be given death penalty, but only after he has revealed the names of the people involved in the conspiracy. Its very disappointing to note that people like mr. siddiqui has opted to shamelessly defend such a criminal, forgetting his moral responsibility towards his own country.

Salem should be hanged
by Brajesh Pandey on Nov 13, 2005 05:56 PM  Permalink

Yeah, I shall be glad to hear his hanging in public though IPC will not allow it. But there must be a provison for these case to be treated as special as it wasted valuable money time and most of all unprecious life of human being, which shattered the many dreams.
