One general salutes to another
by rohit sharma on Dec 03, 2006 09:16 PM  Permalink

I feel proud to have had such great generals serve our army - they were not only brilliant strategists, but, also great human beings who served our nation with dignity and valour. They commanded respect of both the military and the civilians. It makes the job of the executive a lot easier if the military is led by such people who can be consulted on and be trusted with not only decisions related to security but also provide leadership for the hundreds of communities that have had tradition of the forces and hundreds of thousands of men and women that felt compelled to serve and continue to do so.
I salute you both and generals before and after you.
Jai Hind!

One General Salutes another- Gen Jacob & Gen Arora
by Vinod Tuli on May 06, 2005 08:38 PM  Permalink

A Rememberance
Padam Bhushan LT Gen JS Arora PVSM was the real WAR HERO of Independent India. He was a master strategist in all respects during the 9 month long war scene in the then East Pakistan. Millions of refugees were entering into India and managing them at the border areas was a Herculean task. This author and my battalion were in the Tura - Mymensing sector. I was posted on the border in 1971 as an officer of the Border Security Force. Lt General JS Arora, the then Army Commander was a regular visitor to all sectors and used to guide the soldiers from time to time with his exemplary and cool style. It was his and his colleagues', including Gen Jacob (the author of the article) strategic planning that the victory was achieved and that too against the enemy, which was highly motivated in earlier stages but was demoralized when the onslaught began with might from Arora's Army accompanied by the Para Military Force and the Mukti Vahini. MY SALUTE TO HIM AFTER MY LAST MEETING ON 14-12-2003 in New Delhi in a function on VIJAY DIVAS - 2003. Vinod Tuli

Biggest surrender?
by Saurabh Joshi on May 05, 2005 09:51 PM  Permalink

Much ado about nothing maybe, but wasn't the surrender at Stalingrad equally big, if not bigger?
