Gen JS Arora was the real WAR HERO of Independent India. He was a master strategist in all respects during the 9 month long war scene in the then East Pakistan. Millionsof refugees were entering into India and managing them at the border areas was a Herculean task. This author and my battalion were in the Tura - Mymensing sector. I was posted on the border in 1971 as an officer of the Border Security Force. General JS Arora the then Army Commander was a regular visitor to all sectors and used to guide the soldiers from time to time with his exemplary and cool style. It was his strategic planning that the victory was achieved and that too against the enemy, which was highly motivated in earlier stages but got demoralized when the onslaught began with might from Arora's Army accompanied by the Para Military Force and the Mukti Vahini.
