Dont fall for US plans
by anthony on Mar 28, 2005 07:08 PM  Permalink

With the news of US planning to sell Pak and India the F-16's there was also a news that it saved the company which manufacture the fighters so it will be like the US is only selling the outdated F-16's only because it want to keep their employees employed. Hope India will understand their tactics and dont fall in the trap.

Danger(o)US
by Vasudev Kulkarni on Mar 26, 2005 08:45 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir,
US has once again shown that it can not be trusted.
By its to sell F-16s to Pak and offering the same to india it has exhibited its Bussiness tactics.

Can we say Ms Rice bluffed we Indians?

US wants to make market in South-Asia. India should say no to its offers and should focus on
Russia-India-Chaina Axis. This is necessary to establish a multipolar world order.
It's a very crucial time for our foreign policymakers. They should bear one thing in mind,
that the US has always favoured Pakistan, and more over US never wants peace to be installed
in the region. To my mind, it is better to embrace Russia and China than, untrust-worthy and
dangerous US.

Let's take some decisions against US interest, like proceeding with gas pipeline project with Iran.
We should show the US, that we are a strong country.

Thanks.

Vasudev Kulkarni.

American business strategy
by milind on Mar 26, 2005 01:25 PM  Permalink

Its futile to show dissappointment with US decision to supply Pakistan with F-16. The war exercises in Gwalior had shown that the US made F-16 were average aircraft and are more than matched/superceeded by superior Sukhoi/Mirage and LCA's. We must understand the psychology of US strategy makers since WWII about creating conflicts in every corner of the world for example India and Pakistan, China & Taiwan, Iran v/s Iran etc. We have no one to blame but ourselves for not defining our foreign policy for last 50years. We entertain and splash photos of Billal Musharraf on our newspapers eventhough his father is the architect of Kargil. We propose passport less travel for residents of PoK. We dont allow Indians to buy land or setup business in Kashmir. Territorial integrity of a nation demands nationalism to be a part of the nature which we Indians dont possess. We are proud to proclaim that we are non-violent nation and have a history of not attacking a nation for last 10000 years. As a counter strategy India should help Iraq, Iran. Also India should not buy F-16 or F-22 even if US offers it at quarter price. That would be tit-for-tat.

Every country has right for self defence.
by BNS Tyagi on Mar 26, 2005 12:30 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir,
Every country has right for self defence, but in prevailing circumstances around the Globe,it must not be at the cost of others. If we go back in the history,we would see that American's aid to Pak. was totally stopped prior to 9/11, but was rushed immediately after 9/11. Why?
US some how understand that it might be PAK, who triggered destruction on them by keeping Osama at
fore front.Perhaps it has now become it's policy to keep PAK pleased, at any cost.
Under these circumstances one has to look after it's own interest himself and invent it's own defencive policies, before he is caught sleeping.

F16 for Pak: Bush calls PM
by s.subramanyan on Mar 26, 2005 07:08 AM  Permalink

There are more statements and reactions to what prompted the cancellation of Modi's visit to UK and who said what, than a strong reaction to the sale of F16 to Pakistan after 15 years of refusal.

Does it not represent a clear case of lack of alertness at the top be it ruling paty or the government.

India , Pakistan and the American effect
by RAJEEV on Mar 26, 2005 06:54 AM  Permalink

Seeing the friendly environment between india and pakistan., specially cricket matches, visit of musharaf family, and proposed visit of musharaf himself and the opening up of bus routes., I had 100% expected that America is going to augment supply of arms and F16.,s to Pakistan within a fortnight.

You cannot expect anything else at this time. See, It is America's interest that India and Pakistan remains enemies for ever. Their business interest depends on this. If India becomes more friendly with India.... Pakistan can shift at least 50% of their imports from India. A friendly environment means lessened military spending. This all goes againt America's Interest. America has to sell F16,s ..to...Baby napkins to Pakistan at any cost. They can go to any extend to keep this trade going.

F 16 to (na)pak
by RaviShashi on Mar 26, 2005 04:11 AM  Permalink

This shows Bush Admin's arrogance. They are trying to humiliate India and Indians at all levels. By calling our PM and telling that its giving F16 to Pak is nothing but an attempt to show India "we(USA)care a damn about your (India's) concerns" India and Indians at large need to stop infighting (remember Modi's visa denial?) and unite against all those elements which eye India's humiliation. Fellow Indians need to understand -country first, politics later. Acts like rejoicing by some Indians at Modi's visa denial only encourage other countries to put India to more shame.
