I think this article is an eyeopener about Jinnah and his policies for our young generation. Advani's remarks on Jinnah inspite of knowing all these facts is unfortunate and condemnable.
AS Mr. Yeshvant Sinha rightly commented it was unfortunate to dig such an issue. Your views should not be given pecedence in public life.
Mr. Advani has proved that he is not a Statesman at all.Such persons should not lead India.
you should not be flattered by any one.It is common weakness of Indians
We must always keep our National Intrests at the top.
As far as Kashmir is conern, the Kasmmir issue is an internal issue of India. It is Non Negotiable with any other country . Technically merger of Kashmir with India is final and Kashmir is an integiral part of India.US or Pakistan has no buisness in Kashmir. US can not use Kashmir as a bait for Pakistan to fulfill its own interests.
We are not a dictatorship like Iraqe we are a great democracy. US can not pressurise us.
Apropos the article "Did ISI lay a trap for Advani" evokes only one response from me and that is of pity, not for Advaniji but for the writer. The writer thinks that Advaniji can be laid in a trap of flattery by ISI. Apart from that he says that Advaniji was representing BJP and/or Hindutva forces in Pakistan. I personally believe that when the Leader of Opposition visits a foreign country his first and foremost duty is to foster relations between the two countries and not furthering his party's interest. The writer must avoid falling into the trap of achievement by getting a chance of writing at a website. It might sound too harsh but thats the way it stands. I agree with him though that Pervez is enjoying himself.
sir, Amazingly this word secularist is used at different times in different ways. Can anyone explain what does this word actually means? Interestingly,it used to be so that if somebody used to speak for Hindu cause or even a little bit in favour of hinduism,he or she would be termed as communal and speaking for minorities of India earned a secular tag.
when govt of india itself not demanding "terrorists infrastructure dismantling" to pak president when he came here and instead decided (including media) exchange roses with him, what is wrong in advani trying to continue that momentum? particularly when whole media nd world see advani is a main person against this kind'a india/pak friendship and project sonia/vajpayee as all-in-all for this.
I think mainly he wanted to continue that indo-pak friendship momentum and this will give big boost to mush's change of approach(he has to become friend of india sooner or later or he will be in trouble) and may weaken that fundamentalists who are flaming that anti-india movement in pakistan eventhough many people want to become friends..
But I agree, there is a way to think it could be a congress/china/isi trap.
Let all the Hindus/Muslims unite and not grumble about what Advaniji spoke in Pakistan. One fails to realise the fact that being an invitee in Pakistan he had to oblige them with sweet talks.Had he been tough with words there, he wouldnt have been able to win the hearts of our brothers/sisters in Pakistan. What he spoke about Jinnah could be considered as mere sarcasm about Jinnah. History has a list of foolish leaders who have been glorified over time. Leaders who have instigated communal disharmony for personal short termed gains. Let us do away with all issues of the past, dissolve the communal hatred and work towards a brighter India, a truely rising India.
Well articulated. But it will be a mistake to ignore the role played by certain Indian news channels such as NDTV, in playing up, out of context and out of proportion, the statements of Advani. These same channels had gone overboard during Musharraf's visits to India. Aren't these channels too part of the ISI and Musharraf game plan?
well.. i felt the article was too harsh on advani... after all, he was in pakistan on an invitation frm the host and it doesnt make sense to take a hard stand on such a visit which might be termed as personal also to an extent as he had been thre with his family n visited his childhood home n stuff... abt calling jinnah a secular,am not too sure abt that part of history as it was long ago frm my time... but as a youth of this generation, i feel that it is time to put these things behind us. for how long are v gonna keep calling pakistanis our adversaries jus because their forefathers had committed great massacres??this has to stop.... it isnt as if shud punish em always for their "original sin"! n abt calling babri masjid his saddest day... i ask .. wots wrong?? doesnt a day which eventually led to the killings of thousands of hindus and muslims be bad enough for someone to call it his saddest day??
Hahaha, this is a big joke. ISI was not the reason for Advani's blunder in Pak but Advani him slef with his big talk. He is full of Lies and B.S. He is a two faced politician who goes to Hindu hardliners and gives a anti Pakistan speech and then he turns around and goes to Pakistan and Gives a pro Pakistan speech. He got busted by his own lies.
What an excelent article. Once again B.Raman excelled in teaching us history and how to take (and not to take, as for Advaniji)lessons from it. Thanks to Rediff and Mr. Raman for open up our eyes and minds.
