Advani's betrayal
by Puneet on Jun 09, 2005 12:27 PM  Permalink

I strongly endorse VHP's views that Advani has betrayed the entire country and Hindu society with his comments on Jinnah and Babri demolition. How can a demolition of a structure which stood over a temple most sacred to Hindus be a saddest day of his life. Moreover Advani himself had spearheaded the Ram Mandir revolution and today he says totally contrary to what he did 15 years back. India doesnot require leaders like Advani who have no vision and no ability. I welcome his resignation.

Advani's Comments
by Manish on Jun 09, 2005 12:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Advani's comments ABSURD in all respects and are condemnable strongly. When Gandhiji fasted for communal harmony, Jinnah was making merry in creation of Pakistan. To equate Gandhi and Jinnah is to equate
Shivaji and Aurangzeb
Rana Pratap and Akbar.
No way would a true Indian forgive him for his foolish comments which were based only on giving back the food he consumed in pakistan. (Namak ka farz ada karna) and what a big folly at that !!. He has let down a whole nation's pride and honour down in doing so. Only brainless politicians who only have the ulterior motive to rule the uneducated masses would support such a move.
I am surprised why he didn't announce partition or gifting of Kashmir to Pakistanis or rather why not whole of India....that would have been more amazing than such a statement.
Politicians are trying to justify and pacify him ??. what is India finally coming to ??. A bunch of incompetent spineless politicians.
Why did we ever fight Kargil war at the cost of so many lives?. Why did we fight 2 wars with Pakistan ??.
I wonder what people like Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose would have done to Advani had they been alive now.....just wonder...!!!

Did ISI lay a trap for Advani?
by Sachin on Jun 09, 2005 12:17 PM  Permalink

It was a very well written article. The ISI is not intelligent enough but the Indian leaders are themselves foolish, I would say. As in the history, even today the Indian leaders fail to capitalize on the oppurunities especially in the foreign policies. They fail to strenghten India's point not only in pakistan related policies but in relation to other countries as well with special emphasis in case of Pakistan. One reason could be that the Indian leaders are not loyal enough to consider India as their motherland and they are all time busy in their personal interests.

feed back about the article
by sanjay gupta on Jun 09, 2005 12:13 PM  Permalink

i truly agree to this article and i am still confused that a person like advani who has himself gone through the pain of partition can call jinnah a secular.

Secular, Jinnah, etc...
by Observer on Jun 09, 2005 12:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Sir,

Jinnah did a lot of mistakes. It is a known fact. But how long we have to carry that enimity? Till our age or even further ? What is your solution to establish peace ? By continuing that same enimity further any fruitful thing can be expected ?

Partititon is an irreversible process that happened without our control. Eventhough our mind is not ready to accept it we have to. This is essential to live both of us (Indians & Pakistanis) in harmony. There is no meaning in carrying forward. Advani also knows those things well than any of us. He saw Jinnah more familiarly than us.

Now, When that country is inviting him (that too a hardcore Hindu and opposition leader.. not ruling candidate) it is the opportunity of him to do something more to increase the faith among the people of both countries. Eventhough what he said is not near to truth (which he knows !! ) he did for the better interest of the people...

Everyone must think this reality and support Advani. He is the tallest leader next to Atalji and they both guided the country well within govt and also outside govt. Their constructive contribution outside (as oppn in parliament) the govt is valuable.
Thnks

RE:Secular, Jinnah, etc...
by Varun Shekhar on Jun 09, 2005 10:31 PM  Permalink

Do you want to know a secret about Jinnah? He didn't even like Moslems! He liked Parsees, Christians,Anglo-Indians, even the British. He didn't mind Hindus too much, though he had an intense jealousy of Hindu leaders like Nehru, Gandhi and Patel. He wanted power, and he whipped up rabid communal feelings in the Moslems( which were latent anyway) in order to obtain it. His politics were entirely communal, not to mention obnoxious, dirty and violent!

grossly misinterpreted
by Subhrendu on Jun 09, 2005 11:48 AM  Permalink

Advani's statements have been grossly misinterpreted.
Advani didnt mean or say that jinnah was personally a secular guy. He said that even jinnah realised and wanted pakistan to be a secular state after the formation of pakistan. Advani wanted to advocate that Jinnah wanted apkistani people to be secular.
That in no way suggests that Jinnah was secular.
As rightly pointed out in the article, Jinnah didnt want the hardcore islamic forces to run the govt of pakistan , and then he realised that to keep them at bay, he must have a secular pakistan. so there lies the reasonabiility of his statement. That in no way undermines his previous communal thinking wher he instigated riots and created the great divide between hindus and muslims. besides its well known that Jinnah's activities were primarily driven for the gratifications of his personal ambitions rather than of any idealogues he had.

This is quite right!
by Anupam Varshney on Jun 09, 2005 11:36 AM  Permalink

This is quite right that Advani has shown no strength of character in Pakistan. He was blown away by the flattery of the Muslim league leader and the Military rule.
No one can change one's image overnight, that to giving controversial statements in the rival country.
Advani has done nothing which was expected from him, while in power or sitting in opposition.
He was popular because of his strong Hindutva stand and became more popular amond Hindus after the demolition of Babri Mosque.
He should have continued with the same stand and threaten Pakistan.

Did ISI...........
by Renuka on Jun 09, 2005 11:21 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Writers views are so biased. And the heading of the Article "Did ISI...." is also misleading. What does the writer want to prove through this I never understood.
India is going through a very grave identity crisis. Though our Constitution says, (and that is also taught to children in schools) that "India is a Democratic, Secular ,....., country." And on the other hand we have our national leaders, singing "Hindutava"......... stating very clearly that they have nothing to do with secularism. Then why this hypocrisy, Just remove the word "secularism" from the books of constitution.
The writer is right that Jinnah was not secular. But his country, which is Islamic, one never heard of a communal violence towards Hindus, for the past many years. Even there was no "REACTION to Action" post 6th dec or post Godhra in Pak. Hindus were safe there. On the other hand, we a Secular country, held our Brothers here responsible for the the Bombing of WTC. For any thing around the world, we punished our own people and discriminated them.
Other coutries which are Islamic and Christian... one never heard that the Hindus are unsafe there. But we have doubts on our non hindu people
