he deserves to go
by sandeep on Jun 07, 2005 11:54 PM  Permalink

it had to come. advani had to go, and thankfully, the moment has arrived. his comments on jinnah have put the whole of the hindu community in india to shame. seeking to woo the muslims for their votes in india is a shameful act. VHP calling him a traitor is totally justified.

A big blow to nation ! indeed !
by deepak malani on Jun 07, 2005 11:47 PM  Permalink

The news of Shri Advaniji's resignation has proved that the idealogy behind the present people associated with RSS , has become completely fanatic in recent times . Their inadequate historical knowledge cannot even allow them to bear the words of appraisal of such leaders like Jinnah. Personal dogmatic frame of mind of such people can prove as a hindrance to our development. The resignation is surely a big blow for BJP.

Atleast you know that you have behaved in an undignified manner, letting down the hindus after claiming to work for them. you ought to feel ashamed of this for the rest of your life!!!

Doing this in Pak you have let down Bharat.

Advani resigns..
by labrea on Jun 07, 2005 10:13 PM  Permalink

Maybe he's figured it's time for him to go, or was just looking for the right excuse to resign, either way it's time he made way for younger turks - no reflection on him, but a sensible decision - time for new blood.

Advani and the damage he has done
by Rabindra K. Sinha on Jun 07, 2005 09:01 PM  Permalink

Mr. Advani said that Mr. Jinna is one of the few peoples who made history, not only became a part of the history. I guess Advani also wanted to do the same. He has set in motion the destruction of BJP, the only other party to provide a national forum. It's a shame how irresponsible a person can become. Years of training, exposure and indoctrination become a naught when it comes to fulfilling false and personal gratifications. No amount of apologies, resignation, self morse is going to turn the wheels backwards. He did an irrepairable harm. When one becomes a national leader, he or she does not have a personal life. He proved he was not above it. We were fooled by his mask of toughness. He turned out to be worse than an ordinary person. Shame on him. It's too bad, we're still going through the learning process. If I were him, I'd have self immolated myself by now.

What a pity, he also turned out to be a "Jayachand". We can only cry and shed tears of blood. May HE help us find peace!

Advani Resignation good for BJP
by srinivas on Jun 07, 2005 08:14 PM  Permalink

Advani should not withdraw resignation. Younger generation should take over. Jaswat Singh or Arun Jaitely. BJP has 4 years before fighting for next election and they have plenty of time to nuture the leader and project as an unifying force.

See the bigger picture
by Nilesh on Jun 07, 2005 08:11 PM  Permalink

Though Advani has moved away from his hard-line hindutva Image, I believe it is in the larger interest of nation.

When Musharaf came to India, he called upon Vajpeyee and Just before the Iran -- Pak --India pipe line project moves ahead, Advani visited pakistan.

The statement is nothing but a polical guarantee to pakistan that whoever comes in power in India, the project will go on.

Don't be surprised if you hear similar bhai-chara statements from all major political parties in pakistan.
