Worried for Mumbaikar's
by Venkatesan on Jul 28, 2005 12:23 PM  Permalink

In two generation of our family, we have never witnessed such torrential rain. Two days of heavy rain has brought the financial capital to grinding halt. Mumbai isolated from the rest of the world, No power, No Communication, No transportation.

Year after Year, We people just complain about infrastructure of the city, which contributes the major share of income to the nation. Are we toughed skinned to be ruled by corrupted politician, who have done nothing but ruined the affairs of the city and state? We People should eradicate this politicians and bring proper people on chair to change the fortunes of the city. Never compare Mumbai with any other city in the world. Mumbai has most densities of population and multi-lingual people adding to its problem.

Now the issue is are we ready for another calamity like this. Dont we need a better drainage system? Better transportation facility, security for our Mumbai. Lets join our hands and fight for the same. Please stop electing or supporting these selfish politicians who are just rogues.
Leaders are the ones who keep faith with the past, keep step with the present, and keep the promise to posterity. We deserve this kind Leaders

Mumbai under water
by S. Hariharan on Jul 28, 2005 12:21 PM  Permalink

My wife was going from Hyd.Mumbai Express on 25th27th night and the train passed Lonavala and other two more stations and came to a halt. She was in the sleeper compartment. Cell phone holders were hesitant to part with their phones which have unlimited incoming calls and very limited outgoing calls {thanks to the great schemes of the cell operators} and recharging facilities confined A.C. coaches only, my wife managed to send as sms to my daughter-in-law at Hyderabad. The person at Dar to receive my wife spent the whole afternoon and night in the platform and returned to have a snap and wash in the morning and then again go to Dadar and wait. I managed to send an sms {through Hyderbad} giving a contact number at Poone. On 27th morning may be around 10 am. the train moved backwards and came to a station and halted. With a small group in the compartment she got down there and managed to engage a cab and reached sion around 8.p.m. A stationary train may have to switch of fan and electricity when the stoppage for hours together. Anyway there is a sigh of relief for many people and a great loss to Cellphone operators and BSNL.

whom to blame?????
by shweta shinde on Jul 28, 2005 12:09 PM  Permalink

all are complaining about the chaos and blaming government for this but none of realize that when nature turns nasty no one can do anything about the situation
i stay in mulund(E)and on ground floor in my building, there was water in my house and nothing we could do about it...
there are still hundreds of people who havent returned home yet, more who are missing and even more who are dead!!!
instead if blaming the govt and everybody else we ourselves should extend support to the people who need help..
after all we are the ones who elected the govt so why regret now!!!!
mumbai will get back to its senses and everythings going to be just fine its just matter of few days!!!

It is an emergency
by jagadeesan on Jul 28, 2005 12:04 PM  Permalink

Dear all,
Please stop blaming either politician or corporation or whoever you feel to.It is 94 CMS of rain fall in 48 hours. No one could have expected. How many of you contributed for the rescue of the sufferers. It is not that you can get wild when you have a computer and writing skill.Saying by words is always easy than doing it.why to blame now.where you have been all these days. What corporation can do and what politicians can do for this chaos. It is not a curfew or an accident. It is a natural calamity. So Stop blaming, extend and open our arms to the sufferers.
Gentlemen Japan's population is only 13 crores appr, but in india it is 100 + crores.so please think.
Earlier we had only Hindustan motors and premier automobiles for Cars.so it will take some time for the country to explore its need and build the infrastructure.so work and give a better t'row for your followers and successors.Don't Blame.Only Lazy people blame.

Expressing with depressions

Jagadeesan.

Rains in Mumbai
by Madhava Rao on Jul 28, 2005 11:54 AM  Permalink

I am not able to believe that we have so poor forcasting system in our country which could not send alert/caution message to the public at large. Had this been in place it would have helpled millions of people who finally became the victims of the current rains.

We are Mumbaikars... The great Mumbaikars
by Nirav on Jul 28, 2005 11:10 AM  Permalink

I agree. We should not entirely blame the government body for everything. As a citizen, we are equally responsible.

Every Mumbaiya is a fighter, and a great citizen. When the moment arises, the city has united and has always given joint effort to support the Nation and other states.

This is one of the largest cities of the world, and the best people live here. People, who has the courage to face all odds, and still move ahead in life. Mumbai has yet again proved that it is a stand alone city, and can survive on its own. The Mumbaikars make the city proud by showing their courage, aid, and unity.

Mumbai rocks! It sets an example for other nations and cities. I am proud to be a Mumbaiya.

Mumbai will bounce back
by Sureka on Jul 28, 2005 11:01 AM  Permalink

I am sitting in Chennai but my heart goes out to all those Mumbaikars who are having a tough time now. I pray God for the safety of all those people who are estranged on the roads. I hope things get normalised soon and Mumbai is up again. I wish the Govt. learns a lesson from this incident and has a better planning system in place to cope with natural disasters like this.

Regards
