DO NOT GENERALISE
by Reza on Jan 02, 2006 05:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is a remark on one of the sentences ...

"The explosions were carried out by Dawood Ibrahim, then based in Dubai, with the help of some Mumbai-based Muslims, who were taken to Pakistan via Dubai and got trained and armed by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence."

It should not have been mentioned as Mumbai based Muslims. Should not have generalised to a particular community. If you carefully look through the facts people from other religions were also involved. Even if it were all muslims, the integrity of others muslims in mumbai should not be questioned by mentioning it like this.

Otherwise, the article was pretty interesting but lacked proven facts.

India needs some agency like FBI or CIA
by Anup Chintawar on Jan 01, 2006 02:21 PM  Permalink

India is one of the fastest growing country. A natural rule everyone need to pay price for everything you achieve. India has achieved a lot in last few years and created many soft targets for terrorist. Specially when neighbours are jealous about the development India should upgrade the police and intelligence agencies which should be competative with FBI or CIA.

Good article
by vijay on Jan 01, 2006 04:29 AM  Permalink

Looks like Mr Raman just want to convey whatever he thinks in his imaginary world. The article is written in a story style, If he is having all these information, why dont he go and help security forces and eliminate these so called cells all over the south India. Its like Rediff website is a black board, anybody can write anything whatsoever.I am really not sure what he is trying here by relating unrelated things, is he intrested in solving the issue or complicating it. By complicating it he is only going to harm country. shockingly how come south indian can write such nonsense...are you really south indian?

Bangalore terror attack
by ashok apte on Dec 31, 2005 01:48 PM  Permalink

Our country is heading for disaster.
Politicians have no will to combat terrorism.Since most terrorists turn out to be muslims, the police go soft on them.Since taking action against muslims even if they are terrorists, is deemed 'communal'the police go 'secular'and ignore terror attacks.
How does it matter if a few hindus are killed and many more injured.'Secularism demands treating muslims with kid gloves even if proven to be terrorists.
The Manmohan/Sonia regime is soft on Paki and Bangla Deshi terrorism which also has the support of home grown sleepers and fifth columnists, without which it cannot operate.
India will become an islamic state in a few decades. Then the 'seculars'will be the first to be targetted by the islami jihadis as happened in Afghanistan,Pakistan,Iran,Bangla Desh and is currently happening in Iraq.
Wake up to the threat our politicians and bureucrats and take immediate action befor we become another taliban ruled islamic state.

Hi Indians,

The terrorists will never get Kashmir. Sunny Deol is coming to Bangalore to save us. And Captain (Vijaykant)will take care of Tamil Nadu. It is wrong blaming all Musmils for terrorist activities. One person has given the comment that all muslims should go to Pakistan. Ok fine can we take Mr.Abdul Kalam with us? Please don't blame all muslims. Our country India needs everybody Muslim,Hindu,Christain etc. This is the time we have to be brothers and let the department do their job. If you get any information or if you suspect anyone please inform to the nearest police station. This will stop terrorism, but just sitting in front of your computer and wasting the time and blaming others will not solve the problem. Come on let spread the message only to keep unity and help the police/military to trace them.

Thanks a lot for reading the message.
Jai Hind.
Hussain.

Good writeup Hussain. The one who expressed that all muslims should go to Pakistan, he forgot that the very own community he belongs to will have to move to another country if his logic applied.. because majority in.. Veerapppannn.. Naxals... who?

Well it is so unfortunate that instead of resolving to stand united against the enemy of our state we bring issues such as religion, language etc.
WE ARE ONE AND I DONT THINK THAT INCEDENTS such as these should provoke us for putting forward comments such as that a particular community should be alienated. Everyone has a contribution in making our country strong and in taking us to the position where we are today.
India belongs to every Indian and our diversity is our strength. being part of the majority religion or minority religion doesn't make someone more or less patriotic.

Interesting story
by junbhais on Dec 30, 2005 02:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I find this article to be a very interesting story. Unfortunately it seems to be just that.
There seem to be no defined facts in this article other than the fact that there was an attack at the Indian Institute of Science.

The person/persons who committed this heinous act in the Indian Institute of Science need to be punished, and justice needs to be delivered fast.
But these days it seems to be the norm in the media to deliver stories without presenting any facts.

From this article, it seems that Osama Bin Laden's sleeper cells are active all over India. Certainly something which would create a lot of fear and panic amongst readers.

But are these facts? If a writer knows so much about these cells existing all over India, then shouldn't the police be interrogating the writer to find out more about such terror cells?

Journalists need to be more responsible about what they write.
If the writer provides facts in the article, or reveals the sources of the information provided in the article, then everybody needs to stand up and applaud such writers.

We need the truth.

What Mr. Raman says is true to a great extent. As far as media presenting stories without any facts is concerned, I wonder how many media my friend has gone through to make this utterly inconsequential statement. Frustration, or desperation can make people say strange things.

We also want to think that such sleeper cells does not exist. But, my "thinking" and your "not thinking" is not going to help us in any way. As is the case with making utter stupid suggestions about calling an author for interrogation.

The question for showing more responsibility in journalistic writing seems to crop up only when truth becomes tad too uncomfortable to live with.

Hope all other writers and authors be more responsible and write it as it is.

The sources of the news should also be there in the interest of my friend here.

The ''Islamic Caliphate'' and Pakistan -- Contd.
by Cogito_ergo... on Dec 30, 2005 01:16 PM  Permalink

"Rahmat Ali also formulated demands for Muslim states in the Continent of Dinia [Ali's name for India], namely: Muinistan, Haidaristan, Faruqistan, Osmanistan in Hyderabad Deccan, Maplistan in the south west (Kannada), and Siddiquistan (north of Osmanistan). He also advocated that Bangladesh should be a separate Muslim state called Bangistan. These Muslim states in Dinia would then form a Pak Commonwealth of Nations allied to P.A.K.I.S.T.A.N." In a nutshell, credit for the concept of Islamic Caliphate goes by priority to Rehmat Ali rather than bin Laden. However, bin Laden apparently extended the area all the way from Morocco to Indonesia, as one Pan-Islamic Empire.
These facts reveal the reason for the support that Taliban and al Qaeda received (and continue to receive) from Pakistan. More important, Rehmat Ali's dream has not been abandoned by PAKISTAN. It has been kept temporarily in abeyance, because Pakistan thinks the present times are not conducive to pursue the ideas overtly.
