Sourav Ganguly,Mr. Greg Chappel & India.
by P.K.MUKHOPADHYAY on Dec 19, 2005 06:27 PM  Permalink

The Column exhaustively dealt with Politics rather than than the matter of Gaguly's ouster.I appreciate the writer's political analysis is 100% correct. But in to-days scenario I personally do not want ouster of CPM led Government firstly because after a long long period Bengal is in the power center of Indian Politics and I do not want to waste this advantage for bringing other Leaders from opposition to sit in the helm of affairs of Bengal. These opposition leaders are only off-shoot of Congress and of those leaders like Mr. Prafulla Chandra Sen,Mr. Siddartha Sankar Roy etc.,who did nothing for Bengal-probably had no guts to fight it out with Centre to do something for Bengal and they are the people resposible to bring Communists here. Therefore I want that the present Government who are enjoying good power in Indian Politics(which was not the case 2 years back) at the moment should not be disturbed at all. For Sourav Ganguly & Indian Cricket I can only say that Mr. Chappel should go back to his country.

Bengal, Ganguly & elections
by Sanjay Ray on Dec 19, 2005 06:09 PM  Permalink

Mr Shenoy, your article is much about bengali bashing (although you tried to draw a balance by sympathising the partition), to some extent something about commie-bashing (which I dont care) but has nothing to do Ganguly, why the title is so confusing? What is the relation between Ganguly, or, to find out if there is any current Bengali hero alive, or not, and the politics of Bengal? There is no relation at all. I think the only thing you are trying to establish, as many of my other non-bengali friends did many times to me is, bengalis are a bunch of fools, because they vote for communists.
I am sorry to say that this article and your observations are utterly shallow, and do not possess any intellectual value. Your mention of Tagore and JC Bose as Bengali Heroes show that you wrote this article very casually, something like filling up the vacant pages, or may be under the influence of alcohol!!

Bengalees need to tap talent to fight injustice, NOT react to crooks
by Ayan Nandy on Dec 19, 2005 01:44 PM  Permalink

Bengalees may be proud of themselves, but it's unfortunate if they are made to wear the medal of parochialism. If they wanted to lobby, they would
have never fought against the British and the capital of India wouldn't have shifted from Kolkata in 1911. If they kowtowed with the British and their interests, today Kolkata would have been as
prosperous as Singapore. Kolkata would have got a metro railway network in early 1920's and a city with 10 times as much skyscrapers as Mumbai
and Delhi together have. The forefathers decided not to leave a Diego Garcia for Bengalees to live. So, even if they live in shit today, they love the
shit around. It will be tragic to succumb to the malicious designs of a few crooks after a valiant fight. What Bengal needs is to create an environment for breeding of more Saurav's, wait for him get a
chance to prove himself. The clouds can't hide the sunshine for ever. One day Sourav will surely get a chance to prove himself. If he can we will praise him. If he fails, no hard feelings - we will bid him a farewell and wish new generation perform. There are other games where Bengali boys and girls are doing a wonderful job, eg, TableTennis.Tap da talent
