Misplaced priorities
by Bala S Venkata on Dec 12, 2005 09:32 AM  Permalink

Mr. Dharam Singh's priority is not to rename Bangalore but to make it better than what it is. Renaming does nothing to the man on the street other than making his/her life more miserable (changes in University, hospital, sign board names etc). Let Mr. Singh find a way to just improve the traffic flow in the city and see if the people are happier.

Once again, you got the wrong item in you To-Do list Sir and I sure hope you read this.

Grow up India.
by Abhinav on Dec 12, 2005 07:42 AM  Permalink

Its the second rechristening that has sprung up in last few weeks. The first being Indian Airlines being stripped off 'Airlines' part. And now the garden city gets a new name.
I assume that the people behind these 'moves' had the same goal in mind - revival of fortunes.
Maybe it is good omen! With the new auspicious name, the infrastructural woes of the city will vanish and Bangulurites will live happily ever after.
Or maybe the the puspose was just to gain some political mileage out of the gullible section by appeasing them with one change that they can 'see',
rest assured that the city would still be the same.

Another Fanaticism
by Abhishek on Dec 12, 2005 07:26 AM  Permalink

Another step of beating the drum of own culture and forgeting other necessary works that are needed to improve average Indian life.
Day is not far when each city in the country will shout at full lungs to change their names to some name picked from history. Ask these fanatics who pays for the expences because of all this crap.

Mumbai started it and it wont take time when Mujaffarpur will change its name.

Either there is no work left for Indian people or politician or they want to avoid all necessary work and do this.

God save the country !!
Anybody listening...

Rubbish
by shubham basu on Dec 12, 2005 06:47 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

An utterly imbecile and rubbish idea. Would you ever think of New York being renamed Nova Gorku or Amsterdam being renamed Amrotodo. Every city has a history which is identified by its name. Like PM Manmohan Singh wont go around changing his name at the age of sixty five, my dear country men can you not think of better agendas for India's future. Poorly built politicians, your thinking makes me grosly hate the garbage you are carrying under your hats.
-An Indian who gets frustrated by futile thoughts.

hmmm ...
by Soundharya on Dec 12, 2005 06:16 AM  Permalink

Another useless stunt by the Indian politicians ?

Karnataka's govt is unable to provide the infrasturcture to cope up with the growth of Banglaore ... congested roads, accidents, housing issues and what not ? How can they think and resolve such things, when they are tooooo busy planning and implementing such funny name changes ?

Is any of the supporters of such a non-sense happy to change their names, or the names of the sons, daughters, son-in-laws, daughter-in-laws, grandchildren ? They won't ...

And we the people are a silent witness to such foolish acts and re-elect stupids to rule us and dream of becoming a superpower ?

Throw these idiots out of power ... Let's elect someone who will do what is useful for the development of our beloved motherland and its people ...

And later on, let's have fun re-naming our cities ...

What ya say ???? !! ??? !! ???? :)

Jai Hind

Renaming of Bangalore
by Akshay on Dec 12, 2005 06:09 AM  Permalink

Having decided to rename the City of Bangalore, i would have been happier if they had chosen the "right" name. Should have been Bengalooru.
