Nice !! I wonder why they didn't go for ... "Bendakaluru".. Kempegowda would have been really proud !!
The city has been given its lost name. Its nice to see all our cities getting their original names. I always felt why should we keep naming and referring our cities and roads by the names given by our invaders. Its high time we come out of those invaders completely. Lets name and refer our sacred lands by the original names as done before by our ancestors. I absolutely dont see any regionalism here.
Its great to know Bangalore to be named bengaluru! But the sad part is... Is it the most important of all issues?? May be yes!!! Coz if the name isn't changed to bengaluru...i feel there ain't a growth for bangalore. Bangalore being named by british, i think that makes our Politicians go tainted, they tend to think like Brits! Poor Politicians they will be fine once we have the name changed to Bangaluru i am sure we will have all mahathma gandhi's as our MLA's and MP's.
And would that make any difference to our lifez??? NOPE!
Our being is only felt when its time to vote 'n when we are taxed! AND at both we don't have a choise!!!
It is unfortunate that a chief minister of an IT capital is talking cheap politics. It is high time that politicians stop concentrating on renaming cities but focus on the problems of the city. The city was once beautiful but the condition is degrading day by day.The chief minister should focus on improving the condition of the city rather than talk about renaming. Today bangalore tomorrow hyderabad then some other city will start the demand. Such activity will mean nothing than unnecessary expenditure and where from the government will recover the money--By taxing the common people. I know the renaming is related with the sentiments of some people but for satisfying the sentiments of few people the chief minister should not burden all the people. If the state treasury is flooding with money and the chief minister is not sure how to spend the money then let him utilize the money to help the poor states of india.
My appeal to the people of bangalore is keep aside these cheap sentiments and concentrate on improving the condition of the city.
Mr. CM and Co. Please don't waste your time, energy and people's money to erase history. Instead concentrate on development of the city. By changing the name of Bangalore, things only get complicated everywhere. For we Kannadigas Bangalore is Bengaluru forever, in our hearts, thoughts and in our day to day lives. Nobody can change that. For Global society we are known more as Bangaloreans and less Kannadigas. Now just think what happens if we introduce ourselves as Bengalurians? We have to explain the whole thing to them if they don't know the change. Chances are that they may think us foolish. Like this there would be many such unnecessary complications, misunderstandings. We are always proud of our state and capital. No need to show that by changing a heritage name. We have to preserve the heritage. People only laugh at our foolishness. We don't have to imitate what Bombay, Madras or Calcutta people did. What big did they achieve by changing the names. If the intention is to erase English influence then we have to stop call India as India and use Bharat or Hindustan everywhere. So dear politicians, don't project your plans as views of the citizens. We want development.
its coz of non kannadigas who dont dont care abt blore tht CM is taking all this silly steps abt changing name to placate the poets if only non kannadigas should more respect towards kannada

What do you want them to do? They pay taxes and in return what do they get?Rotten roads with pits, potholes and humps. They pay bribes to Policemen for no fault of theirs -suddenly a one-way-board springs up from nowhere and a hiding policeman (Thieves should learn from these chaps how to hide in a crowded place) lifts his head up with a cunning smile - Without parting substantial sums of money, can't get anything done in Bangalore - they have foolproof methods-Parking fees are exoribtant. Why blame non kannadigas for this state of affairs? The hardworking people come here because of the IT firms and the salubrious climate which is conducive. But the politicians, leaders and corrupt officials in Karnataka are capable of polluting the atmosphere. For more than three years, IT czars and prominent citizens are crying hoarse for better roads. The officials and Ministers are thick skinned. They just don't bother. Once the IT Czars take a decision to move out of Bangalore, non-Kannadigas will also move out in the present circumstances in the State. There is a crying need for better governance in this State.
This is a welcome decision from the Government of Karnataka. If Bombay, Calcutta, Madras, Trivandrum,Cochin and dozens of other towns and cities in Kerala can revert back to their original names - WHY NOT BANGALORE
Let us shed off the yoke of colonialism and pride ourselves with our indigenous identity.
Smile oh my Bengaluru - You have reclaimed your real identity after remaining incognito for over two centuries.
It it high time New Delhi and India too get their due.

Then rename it as Kannadaooru. If you call it Bengal-uru, Bengalis can spin yarn saying that once upon a time a Bengali king ruled this city. They may also take credit saying that in recognition of their services, it has been renamed thus. As "ooru" is more common in Tamilnadu, Tamils can claim this city quoting facts and figures which cannot be disputed.
I appreciate the Renaming but would like to suggest one thing. If at all they are planning to rename bangalore, Then it should be called by its original name "Benda kaaluru".If people didn't know kempegowda came into the place called as 'Benda kaaluru'.
what ever they have suggested doesn't make any difference as the people who know kannada know the place as Bengaluru only.
