Time to review the damage done by reservation!
by Chandrasekar K on Sep 05, 2005 11:33 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Politicians will not have the guts to admit. The scourge of reservation which is largely a discount on merit&has ruined the country;why do we complain of brain drain. The oft quoted reversal of damage done by 400 years of feudal system of 'not permitting' a certain family fr taking up education but pursue their profession is no more prevelant;in any case we have more than reversed that in less than 50 years. Look at the lamenting from Manmohan Singh downward that 'quality is not joining Govt'.How will it?While everyone has to score minimum, this privileged lot can be less than the minimum required of others; worse still there is special track, time bound promotions,performance/no perf, demoralising all performing work-force incl of the ones fr the reserved community. What this community&other economically backward need is not reservation but full eco assistance2pursue study &also eco assistance2the family so that bright youngsters are not denied learning opp.Thereafter no spl privileges promoting incompetance;prove yr worth2get a job/promo.That will attract quality&ensure the much touted(but real)equanimity too.Let us not forget;even Ambedkar wanted positive discrimation for 15yrs ONLY

It is not worth for even reviewing.

Just scrap it.

Even Jawahar was not comfortable with the idea.

Do we want to create "a nation of mediocrities" ? was his reaction to the reservation proposal.

However, he gave in with the impression that by 1955 it would disappear.

But the dirty dozens (the politicians) found this a handy tool for their dirty political designs.

It is an insult of the whole of the average and above average population of Bharat Varsh.

Just for political ends.

No rift between Judges and parl
by S.Mohan on Aug 31, 2005 10:57 PM  Permalink

Supreme Court is the only hope for the people to get justice. For SC verdict only these politicians are afraid of. Passing a resolution for political benefit will not be good. Chief Justice rightly said and his comment is laudable.

The judiciary has largely been sidelined.
by chanakya on Aug 31, 2005 06:06 PM  Permalink

Sidelined from day one of our independence.

The most glaring example is the Shah Bano legislation that was put through during Rajiv's regime.

Any regime having brute majority in the house can crush an apex ruling, and pass legislation countermanding an apex judgement.

Such legislations are largely political, anti-people and even anti-nation often tantamounting to a grand larceny or traitorhood.

But the politician doesnt care.

He/she wants vote by "hooks" or by "crooks".

It is unfortunate constitution is silent on this.

And the politician continues polluting the national character just for votes.
