The judiciary has largely been sidelined.
by chanakya on Aug 31, 2005 06:06 PM

Sidelined from day one of our independence.

The most glaring example is the Shah Bano legislation that was put through during Rajiv's regime.

Any regime having brute majority in the house can crush an apex ruling, and pass legislation countermanding an apex judgement.

Such legislations are largely political, anti-people and even anti-nation often tantamounting to a grand larceny or traitorhood.

But the politician doesnt care.

He/she wants vote by "hooks" or by "crooks".

It is unfortunate constitution is silent on this.

And the politician continues polluting the national character just for votes.
