Another Revolution??
by Dr. Chakravarthy on Aug 26, 2005 10:24 AM  Permalink

I completely agree with the writers article. When politicians cannot rise to their duties, it is a shame. When I say their duties, it is not scoring political points. They know to get political mileage from every issue like a train derailment, floods to communal tensions. Infact, no communal tensions would have had been so badly hitched up if was not for our great politicians who wait for their mileage.
Least, they should know where to stop, Judiciary and constitution ought to be respected. If the leaders cant do that, how do they expect the common citizen to do that?? If constitution or Judiciary is a block for gaining some cheap political advantage, talk of changes in constitution and Judiciary itself. They are never touched or reviewed according to changing times and needs, but here comes the emergency.
What does "Social Justice" mean and what was the meaning in Supreme courts ruling?? Who cares to understand? If a aprticular section of the community has now demanded for adding them in 'weaker sections' category so that they would get some "Social Justice" out of it, so are more going to follow the move. And who is going to decide and on what category that they are 'weak'?

Of talents....
by Tressa on Aug 26, 2005 10:23 AM  Permalink

Yes, I do admire your twin talents. One, for a sure talent for understatement. The BJP is busy committing suicide and all you say is "they are missing from the treasury benches". Second, finding ways to point one finger at the congress when you are pointing three fingers at the BJP and others.

The govt has found a new foe
by J.S.Parthasarathi on Aug 26, 2005 09:37 AM  Permalink

The Supreme court of India's recent jujdement on self financing college & subsequent critism by MPs and MLAs in TN is the cruel joke of the year.

The common man should see one point.

Almost about 60% of colleges are run by MPs. They are happy internally with the judgement. And remaining 40% colleges are run by businness magnets who fund heavily to party fund.

What sort of socialism & natural justice we have in India ! Left hand is critising right hand is bad.

Dear citizens, donot belive the following words.
Natural justice, democracy, secularism, sacrifices, equal rights etc., by politicians. They are not word but vote catching slogans with no purpose.

HOLD on the MPS and MLA who really help manifest benefits to common man not only visibly but in the long run.

Also donot believe party like DMK who hold Election Mahanadus and media bash and advertishment. They only will help their party men who are occasionally paid.

All political parties irresptive of their affiliations are 99.99% corrupt and power crazy. They are out to destroy anything or everything that is good or clean prevailing and can hinder their progress.

wow!!
by krishna on Aug 26, 2005 03:53 AM  Permalink

Mr. Shenoyji,
I appreciate... infact admire your art of writing. You made a sarcastic statement regarding sad state of affairs in BJP but at the same time you are taking on govt. I like that.
But please tell me where the confrontation is. It is our politician, day in and day out, saying that they avoid confrontation. SC has found fault in a quota, so they banned it. Now Govt. has to bring new bill to remove that fault. Now, SC banned the existing quotas because it was against the provisions of constitutional gaurentees. In the order they clearly said that Govt. can bring an amendment to remove the faultlines so that it is in conformity with the basic structure of the constitution. Now governement is doing just the same. Now some mischievous element is making a hue and cry about it and calling it as confrontation!!! If people who are opposing the reservation in it first place, it is too late for them. We have gone far away from equality. We are creating new - new classes of society. Anybody in wildest of the dreams ever thought of a class in the society called "dalit christians"? its too much of sesgregation. Now there will be dalit jains, sikhs and budhs!

New foe or old enemy?
by subbaraman on Aug 25, 2005 07:34 PM  Permalink

Mr.Shenoy, you are, am afraid, in the wrong. SC has been Congress Party's old enemy: consider the cases where the Congress in power sought to nullify the Supreme Court or other Court's orders. The Communal G,O. of the Madras Government was struck down by the Court: Congress Party amended the Constitution. Then, the Bank Nationalisation Act, the Privy Purse abolition law, the Shah Bano case, the decree of the Court nullifying the election of Indira Gandhi, now the attempt on IMDT, and latest the reservation in private educational institutions. More are in the offing: religion based reservations as done in Andhra Pradesh. Then the non-implementation of the latest Supreme Court Orders that loudspeakers should not be used between Ten in the nights and Six in the mornings, because nobody has any guts to stop the loud prayers being blown out even at Five in the mornings from certain religious places, where the Imams and Mullahs claim that the Supreme Court order cannot be implemented. The Hon'ble Supreme Court is more than frustrated, justifiably so, than angered. And it is these people who shout from housetops that the Court verdict would be "honoured" in the Ayodhya case!

Comment on this article
by Krishna on Aug 25, 2005 05:55 PM  Permalink

Firstly, mentioning the word "foe" is a big mistake. But,the flaws in the government are unearthed by our Apex Court which I admire, adore and mostly I Love the Apex Court of our constitution and the constitution and the Government (Parliament). But, the politicians to show their domination are doing this which they should not do. In a big family, if father makes a mistake mother corrects it, if both of them makes mistakes the elders has right to correct it.But, the issue should not be dragged to make comments by others on the family. However, it should not be commented. But,It is everyones duty to respect our court at any cost because they do proper judegement which are abide by our constitution. Selfishness & Corruption,in politicians and dirty rotten politics is making things like to write the article & comment. But,I still insisit the publisher needs to change the title of the article which I do not want to be hurt by mentioning the word "foe". Why I insist that we should respect the courts becuase they are bound to law and constitution but the corrupt politicans will rule only for 5 or more years will change things into rotten ones. Politics must & should repect our courts.
