I agree, there is non performance from Law Minister and Attorney General. However there is also immaturity that Politicians are talking directly against the Judiciary, they should talk only from the floor of house and give reaction only after studying the matter in full.
The statements made by every politician seems to be without studying the sentence and the case.
The day is quite close when Lalu upon getting a sentence from judicary for his cases will say that Judiciary should hold a respect for him and is baised against him.
Our politicians were most downgraded one, and also finding new depths of downgrading. I hope they know how to read and if a person of my age of 25 or so can guage problems then our polititicans must be below 18 kids, so those should not be allowed to even contest!
The article comes as a rare but unprejudiced evaluation of our system. After a long time we are getting to hear some sturn but politically unpopular statements from the highest ranks in the judiciary. Kudos to Mr.Lahoti for his bravery. It is in the interest of the decorum of the system that every citizen of the country, including Mr.PM and his troop of politicians, to protect and respect the sanctity of the judiciary. The legislature and the executive should get over with the pseudo-sympathetic objectives towards "social reforms".
When the reservation for the deprived and under-previleged was mentioned in the constitution, it was also mentioned that in the due course it should be reduced and eventually struck off, for retaining the reservation would result in the group enjoying the reservation grow further backward.
However, this point in the constitution is being used by every government coming to power the means to strengthen their vote banks, either by increasing the share of reservation or interfering with the reservation laws to their advantage.
Well, One way to solve it is if there is a legislation that the private unaided colleges can keep their management quotas but will have to educate an equal number of poor people for free. So, if, say, the MQ is of 10% of the total strength, then 10% of students need to be taught free based on their parental income.
This is very unfortunate that Govt of India do not sit with the attorney general and the law minister to look into the supreme court decisions, which are coming as a slap of face. I can not understand how the ministers and the various other parties give statements with out carrying discussions with some legal experts. I find that these people are too busy to get to the reality in the social spectra, living in a glass house. lets pray that sanity prevails at corridors of power, else face a humiliation
What if every possible community in India petitions to be categorised 'weak'? How many reservations are you going to create? Why dont the politicians talk about reservations for all the communities, they could earn maximal mileage. What India needs now is another revolution. I dont mean that we need another riot between the so called weaker and stronger sections. Lest, they take an intelligent route which should make the politicians wake up and think. There should be as many petitions to the government and the courts of law, demanding to be included in weaker sections category. There should be petitions at every possible level of court questioning the need, the mode and the system of reservations in India. There should be as many petitions as possible that it just cant be handled and the government is forced to say 'ok, please give us time and let us think'. People should contribute at every possible. Individuals, professionals, lawyers, organisations everybody should work for better 'social justice'in India and stand by and support the supreme court.
The writer has done a good job in bringing out the truth. The UPA government has little(or no) respect for Supreme court and even the constitution of India. Instead of dragging SC,the government should think and act. Otherwise, there will be anarchy in India. This is because, the ordinary citizen of India no longer trusts any institution/organisation/constitutional body except Supreme Court.
I must agree with Mr. Shenoy on the fact that the courts seem to be the only Pillar of democracy that seems to have emerged relatively unscathed from corruption, ignorance and blatant irresponsibility. While our politicians are busy trying to win elections by hook or by crook, policemen and other law enforcement officials fall to the wayside just trying to make their daily \"target\" by harassing businessmen and law abiding citizens. How many of us relly trust the police? How many even believe that a politician is going to help us? In such a situation the politicians have no right to force their opinion on the courts which are trying to show respect to all the citizens of India.
