The article comes as a rare but unprejudiced evaluation of our system. After a long time we are getting to hear some sturn but politically unpopular statements from the highest ranks in the judiciary. Kudos to Mr.Lahoti for his bravery. It is in the interest of the decorum of the system that every citizen of the country, including Mr.PM and his troop of politicians, to protect and respect the sanctity of the judiciary. The legislature and the executive should get over with the pseudo-sympathetic objectives towards "social reforms".
When the reservation for the deprived and under-previleged was mentioned in the constitution, it was also mentioned that in the due course it should be reduced and eventually struck off, for retaining the reservation would result in the group enjoying the reservation grow further backward.
However, this point in the constitution is being used by every government coming to power the means to strengthen their vote banks, either by increasing the share of reservation or interfering with the reservation laws to their advantage.
