chinese boy sings in sanskrit language & in Tamil
by kamalanabha prasad on Aug 25, 2005 03:52 PM  Permalink

wow !

wow & wow!

very interesting & very delighted to know.
i did not imagine that chinese vocal cords and tonsils would produce sanskrit sounds !

I recall reading about a French boy who started
to speak very late (late mile stones) and to every ones surprise he did not speak the native french but he spoke english ! Upon investigation it was learnt that the mother worked in english speaking environment in an export company in france while she was pregnant.

obviously the learning started in the woumb.

Chinese sings in Sanskrit
by dipesh on Aug 25, 2005 02:49 PM  Permalink

Congratulations Sai madan maohan Kumar.. You have proved what a dedicated person could achieve. Although Sanskrit seems to be a foreign language to the Indian?? !! We are indeed ashamed.... But very proud to know that a foreigner could master the music as well as language.
Keep it up..
Good Luck & Cheers!

In an age where South Indians themselves do not sit and listen to carnatic vocals, let alone learn and practise, this is truly amazing. Mohan should be appreciated and rendered all help possible from us. I wish him all success

If he is from Malaysia. He is a Malaysian. It's utter ignorance to call everyone who has Mangoloid features as chinese.

Ignorant people refer to people from North East India as Chinese, while they are very much Indian.

In case you didn't know, the Malaysian population is ethnically broken up in the following way:

60% Malays
30% Chinese
10% Indians (these are originally tamilians who were brought in as bonded workers in the late 19th century)

Judging by his features, he IS of chinese origin. Malays have darker skin and their eyes are not as thin as that of chinese.

To start with, the features are spelt mOngoloid, and not mangaloid as the person who made the above comment seems to believe.

Second, anyone who has had the opportunity to travel to Malaysia or Singapore KNOWS VERY CLEARLY that Malays are a different ethnic group from the Chinese - these people are the indigenous peoples of the Malay peninsula.

On the other hand, people of Chinese origin, as this singer is, are called Chinese (or Chinese from Malaysia, since their nationality is Malaysian!)

It merely displays your ignorance that you are not able to make a simple distinction between ethnicity (which is what the writer is referring to), and nationality, which is completely different.

So next time please do YOUR homework before you write something so stupid - or if this is indicative of your IQ, please don't write such arrant nonsense (or anything else for that matter!)

It's perfectly possible that he's actually Chinese, living in Malaysia.

Another proof that music knows no boundaries; and that it can actually bring two nations closer.
