Building collapsed in Mumbai
by Snehal on Aug 29, 2005 10:29 AM  Permalink

The article says that the BMC warned the people living in that building. Then why did they continue living there ?
How can you blame the government when you yourself cannot take precautions and save your lives ?
I have no idea who owned the building etc., but it was foolish to continue living there. And what happened to the 'family planning' ? Why not restrict to two children when you cannot even provide a safe roof over your heads ? When you don't value your own life, why will the government? Or may be more details are needed about the state of the building and the actions taken by the people living there and the BMC.

Irresponsible Ministers
by Bimal on Aug 24, 2005 10:34 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It was pathetic to see that the Mayor was laughing & joking while visiting J.J.Hospital to see the victims. It was more frustating to see the work of clearing of Debris being stopped so that our CM could check the site.

It is very very high time that we revolt against the atrocities of ministers. They are nothing but a parallel evils for the pious, religious and cultural country like India.
I Pray the Almighty to save we Indians from the clutches of these few handfull ministers who are ruling the pious country in their own interest.
Regards,

Sadaf Manzil Collapsed Temkar Street Nagpada Mumbai
by Saeed Khan on Aug 24, 2005 08:26 AM  Permalink

Last night the tragedy of building
collapse happened. We have our rooms on the ground floor of the same
building. But, since, we are staying in suburbs now, we are safe by
the grace of Almighty God.
This building off course is an old building. There are many such
buildings in the same locality. In various maintenance happened to
this building and my father everytime contributed more than the
others.
Here the sad part is the new landlord of the building. His name is
Babu Qureishi, came from Kanpur city, bought this building with the
help of local goons, and started harassing the tenants. Since, he has
no business, he is regularly making false complints of tenants in BMC
and police station and demanding money.
The worst example of his mischeif is that he had constructed an
illegal room in the chowk of the building with the help of local
goons.
I hope some strict action shall be taken against him after this
incidence, as more than 11people died since reported.
