Penny Wise Pound Foolish

What I don't understand is about the claims from Municipal Corporation of Mumbai that Sadaf Manzil was declared UNSAFE. If that is the case, then why did it not take any action like vacating the residents and demolishing the building before this tragedy unfolded. Then there is no point in declaring the buildings UNSAFE, if there is no determination in taking action. Had the authorities taken proper action infact if they had discharged their responsibilities efficiently then this precious life loss could be prevented.
This tragedy is yet another testimony of the Government apathy towards its duties. It has once again proved the adage "Penny Wise Pound Foolish". Hats off to the efforts of people like Moin. They are not only doing a great job, but are also setting a precedent for the youngsters of our country. |
