I think before blaming rains or anything we people should learn to be responsible citizens. We must stop littering, reduce plastic waste and yes ofcourse stop spitting. We call ours is the best culture don't we?
Mr.Shailesh Pednekar, you view of appointing up and bihar minister is totally irrelevant, below the moral satandard and against the humanity.I feel very sorry for you and for your people that always pointing a finger on northen state. please stop this nonsence and think like a true Indian.
Mumbai is a city of 7 island.evacuate the slums whereever it is in mumbai most of these are on drainage system, maintain the drainage systems properly do not allow any construction work on these drainage(as like bandra reclaimed on Mithi river)stop unauthorised constructions, mainly this is because of builder's connections with underworld and politicians.please put a strict ban on cutting the trees.sorry why am i writting all this,it is not going to change the situation of mumbai because basically nobody loves Mumbai no politician or secretary or any authorised officer including central government has a willingness to make mumbai city a great city.Basically this city is govern by UW,everyone comes here to make money only, but let me tell everyone that whatever money u earn in mumbai u will have to spent it here only.
Hope every citizen of india have come to know about one reality that is how ivaluable is there vote which is casted just for the sake of casting and without even thinking what will be there fate in sitauations like mumbai under last week.
Mr Chief Minister made it clear its utter failure of the system ie civic amenties etc in mumbai by saying this he still wants to hold the post( by the way i never meant maharastra should go for byelections)
So I Request all the voting citizens of india please atleast ask for something before you cast your vote
This is the time which should be utilized to comprehend the past actions of ours as a Mumbaikar. The precarious state of Mumbai city is naked out in this unprecedented rain. Where were those so called experts who always predict the climate that never happen? It is a shame for our country that we have such departments who could never predict any such disasters. Where were the disaster management? Where were the politicians whose presence are felt in every corner during elections? Hey dear Mumbaikar no one is interested in your life. You should always remember only the crying child get its milk. If you need to be secure in this city it is high time that you wake up and see what your priority is. The Govt. formed with the support of the people are not able to meet the minimum needs of those people. Every one is telling that the rain has logged the city. Or is it that the bad architecture of the drainage system created the whole mess. Whom should we hold accountable for? Politicians, government servants, whom? None of them, but ourselves who never saw the responsibility to ourself, which inturn would have been made us a good citizen of this nation. Dear ones open your eyes. High Time
Its true, lack of infrastructure and neglect is one of the reason why Mumbai is in such a mess. Its true Rains were heavy agreed. However, what really makes me MAD is the lack of leadership by these idiotic Netas. I don't see the Mumbai Mayor standing in the rain and helping out and providing leadership and comfort to people. This doesn't need planning or money. I don't see the chiefminister helping out in the rain. This is a time to show backbone. This is a time to show what you are made off. Its during such times, when everything brakes leaders are born. Where are these leaders??? Its true Mumbai doesn't have all the infrastruture to handle such a situation, but come-on show some leadership if you are the Mayor of Mumbai. You should be out these 24 hours, rallying the troops, talking to press, Sending out announcements to people, Reassuring people when they badly need. Whats the opposition guys doing? Whats Siv Sena doing? Whats RSS doing? I remember during the calamities before, RSS would be the first on spot and help out...Its time for them to oragnise, not just during the Valentine's day....Wake up Mumbai leadership, show your mettle.
I do agree that the human capabilities are far limited as compared natures super power. But things can be controlled, if and only if we plan the urban areas keeping in mind the worst conditions that can be desasterous to human well being like that of earthquakes/ksunami/thunderstorms etc. The designing of the city roads/drianages/utility systems should be able to withstand or bypass all such type of unseen challenges.
Our disaster management system just become helpless for such kind of catastrophies. One can see the kind of helplessness expressed by our own wellwishers when it comes to natural disasters. Why did not we forecast such kind of a disastrous rainfall and awareness to people to be safe.
Now at least we have learnt from the nature itself that no one is safe from the natural disasters, and it is now our utmost priority to see that we plan to save ourselves by designing a robust systems which could withstand such type of natural calamities.
I am of the opinion that people should stop blaming RAIN, its a natural process and in India we have rainy season ..the problem lies with in the ambit of Civil Engineers who did not take RAIN into consideration while constructing buildings else we should have avoided these kind of natural calamities ...I feel when government is so sleepy about mumbai then what would happen to city like kanpur ??? God help kanpurites !!! regrd samir
Well more and more junta blame the rain or God for this state of plenty(of water). Well is it really God(or nature) or themselves?
With the onset of the industrial revolution, the human race did gain through automation and industrilization:But at what cost?
More release of toxins into the atmosphere and heat trapping greenhouse gases, pollutants in every ounce in every part of the bio-sphere and the reduction of the ozone layer.
So the effect: More floods and erratic precipitation coupled with increase in the sea-level will take its first bite on the coastal cities like Mumbai, Goa, Florida, Maldives etc.
So in short: stop blaming God and think twice before you start your car for afterall, you are partly responsible for the disaster like in Mumbai!!!
Expect more of these disasters in this century;
1. To offset these, reduce the use of personal vehicles: Start using public transport
2. Reduce consumption in general and that of non biodegradable goods in particular
3. Start recycling ; In fact use goods which can be recycled
4. Grow crops with the least amount of pesticides and artificial stuff
