This is an excellent and sensible article. There were also reports that the web-site of this so-called "social activist" has distorted Indian Map which itself is a punishable crime.
People should understand and expose such anti-nationals. These NGOs with high-tech gadgets travel around the world, stay in 5-star hotels and give presentations depicting India in a very bad taste and make a lot of money.
The Govt should take some serious steps to scrutinise the funds these NGOs get and the how they're spent.
it is not surprising such an article came out just after japanese textbook called the nanjing massacre as "an incident". similarly people have cast doubts as to whether the holocaust actually took place. this article shows that there will be some people who will continue to turn a blind eye towards the atrocities taking place and advocate for the innocence of the perpetarators.
Eventhough I agree with the article to some extent, I would judge it as biased. Not biased because the author likes Modi or BJP etc.,. Biased because there has been so much negativity (and exaggeration) about the post-riots episode, she seems to have explored only the positive aspects in it.
But I agree with her on Modi's visa denial. US seems to have some other plans for India, than the ones that are apparent. Beware !!
Congratulations for the well researched article. The activities of the several NGOs going under different names appears to be inspired, guided and funded by foreign governments or institutions. As to who is telling the truth ( Zahira or Teesta ), we will know only later, if at all. I think it would be appropriate to have a close and continuing look at their activities.
when i saw the photo i did not think of it as someone pleading for mercy to a gang after him. how can such a photo be taken. for me it looked like someone breaking down infront of journalists narrating the incident, or something like that. how can you write such a cruel article? you are repeating all the mistakes which led to gujarath. have value for life, people, their emotions, their fears. they are so much like you. how can you so seperate yourself from otehrs that their pain looks less to you. imagine yourself in such a situation. and also let us all imagine a world where gujarath will not happen, where after hundreds of people have died, people will not write counting how many, and prooving points over broken lives and dead people. feel sad that rediff posted such an article.
One can question so many things - why the dead were shown as 2000 and not 700, why the photographer did not include the mob in the picture (Sandhya, that is why some photographs stand out - the image behind all natural/man made disasters are always the emotions reflected in the face - remember the famous photo of Vietnam war where the girl runs naked, smouldering from the napalm attack: One can argue - "Where is the plane in the photo? What is the proof that there was a bomb attack?". Zahira has changed her statements so many times that her testimonies and change of stances do not even make it to newspapers these days!
So, please forget rationalising some wrongs committed. Wrongs were committed and the guilty must be punished. Stop!
