The least we can do to help the victim is to do a quick trial, punish the constable, and close the case.Atleast in this case, there should be no excuse from the judiciary about lack of evidence, witnesses and so on.judicial delays cause far more humiliation to a rape victim. The least we can do to restore the public faith in Police and the Judiciary is to ensure that exemplary punishment( i would recommend death )is handed out to the constable. any attempt to couch the punishment verdict with limitations of law, or rules would give an impression that we are less than sincere about putting a stop to the recurrence of such horrendous crimes.
Definitely this kind of people should be punished severly. The police should be role models for the public. If the police men who should guard the public,is committing mistakes and if he is not punished, then it is something like LAW ITSELF THROWS SOW FOR CRIME. He should be hanged immediately with out any delay in the case.
Sunil More is not an aberration ,in India policemen everywhere have a tendency to undermine the law as they have a feeling that they are above the law.Leave aside policemen, people with links with the police have in the past used their links to subvert the law. There are many instances in this country to show the highhandedness of poilcemen.Alcohol consumption is very common amongst policemen in duty hours.More was reprimanded for other mistakes in the future but he was never handed out a harsh punishment .Alcohol makes a person loose his mental balance but still we see many policemen on duty smelling of alcohol.I do not think that the police top brass is serious about bringing a change in the police force ,this case involved a policemen with less clut ,had it been some other officer he would have been moving scot free. For a moment ,lets think what comes to the mind of an ordinary citizen of this country when there is a mention of police ,it is fear & only fear.We cannot send women in trains alone with armed personnel as there are several cases of molestation, rapes etc by armed personnel all over the country. We ashamed to be born in a country where ther is no respect for women.
The main point in whole story is that rape was done by a cop, who is responsible for saving from rape. Now this is a point to think upon, what should be the criteria for employing a person as cop. Does physical fitness are enough for a person to be cop? I feel Psychiatric test should be conducted. Giving strong punishment to guilty will justify for now, but we should start thinking for permanent solution.
This a very sad incident which happen in Mumbai last week. What i suggest we have to come by more strict laws on Rape. Like giving capital punishment to culprits without seeing his authority or position in the social life. And the law should be made in such a way that the cuplrit should not wait for long procedings in the court. The verdict should be fast because the severiaty of Crime. Otherwise later some so called Human Rights Activist will visit and say no the punishment is too harsh and give him the life imprisionment or something. To avoid this the procedings should be fast otherwise it will be kept in a coldstorage later on or the same thing happen to the cases what happen to Gujrat victims.
The law protector himself commits such heinous crime, then whom do we trust ? He had to guts to do this in broad daylight.
The law is too lenient for rapists. The law should be amended so that such rapists be hanged to death. If such a punishment is enforced, then there would be no rape cases anymore.
