by george james fernandes on Aug 13, 2008 09:02 PM  Permalink

A country rich in its History, traditions, cultures, ethics, and in progressing in many areas of disciplines & subjects, recent gold medal in beejing Oplympics is just an explenary and needs to highlight and be pride of our own mother land. But the question every citizen of india has to answer is why is the poor becoming poorer day by day..? who is responsible?? what steps can cub this ? is it not our responsibility... as we take pride in saluting our national flag it is our utmost duty to see that all our brothers & sisters in this country get enough of basic necessities of life & daily living... are we committed... united in this ... we can march forward.... do our bit... my appeal to all indians... stand out for this cause... It seems a bit absurd that everything about this great nation is being remembered only during I-Day or Republic Day.Don't we need to think abt it otherwise also. And most of the time I just find people criticising abt one or the other discripency. It is really very sad.
We being educated citizens of this country need to act not only react.
Inspite of so many irregurlarities our
our motherland is unique in world and it will remain. and its high time that her sons & daughter come forward and do their bit for a
better
and proud future.
To my great surprise our students in schools and colleges are not even familiar with
those great personalities who laid down their life for the sake of this country.
Although I try my level best to inculcate all the required virtues in my students, but still I feel it's not enough.
and a lot is needed to be done.

Jai Hind!
As India celebrates its 61st Independence Day, what do you think has been its greatest achievements? Where do you think the country has fallen behind? And what does India need to do to achieve its full potential?

What do you want to see changed, what do you want transformed? Tell us your dreams for India. Please post your thoughts here.

First of all, I am proud at this moment, being an INDIAN. I wish all the Indians a happy & peaceful celebration of freedom.

In my experience, I feel the provision of education for the rural poor, mainaining the national integrity despite the various religious hiccups, connecting all parts of nation through structured transportation, enabling individuals be self-sustaioned economically (despite the negligible amount of scarcity), and witnessing India's growth at par with the grown up nations are the major achievements. I strongly believe these achievements are the respectable milestones in India's history.

But then, the filthy political stunts, corruption induced by politicians' selfishness, inappropriate facilities to the rural population (though it is 78%) and uncontrolled population (Why don't the country's judicial system implement a uniform civil code our people) to be stopped and rectivication measures to be initiated. Containing 76% of our population as youth, As Dr. Abdul kam said, we can do miracles in this world if we have a proper direction with plan and dedication. To achieve that, we need to punish and

India being underdeveloped & poor country; only infrasructure developement can pull India from poverty & push towards prosperity. Power, oil, water, roads, & public transport should be given top priority.

hi to all,

On the auspicious occasion of Independence day i would like to convey my wishes to all. I am proud to be indian, a country having many divercified cultures, religions, customs, etc but at the same time there is unity in this divercity.
Today, many of the nations are not in peace but here we can see peace and brotherhood between all people it is because of the divercity between us that bonds us togetter.
We should all be proud of our country.

Happy Independence day

thanks
