How does it matter?
by TongInChic on Jun 05, 2008 09:15 AM  Permalink

So the Mughals were alcoholic. So what? So many ghazals (including by Ghalib) talk about the clash between the clergy and the 'daughter of the grape'.

Rushdie needs to hit the head lines

That is why he is coming up with some thing like this. Probably he needs to sell another one of his books. What is in a name Jodha? The director has already explained . The truth is Salim was the son of the rajputh princess who is known as Jodha AKA marium -us -zamani which is her title after she gave birth to salim. In those days all warriors including Rajpuths took opium before war to keep them from fear. What is the big deal about alchohol and drugs?

Absolutely, religion is the root cause of all evil, causes much more damage than the good it supposedly does. Religion means right and wrong, which means punishment for wrong doings and therefore a direct link to violence!

What an idiotic comparison! Dude, all those you mentioned fought for their countries by whetever means they felt right at that point of time. They may have been named terrorists by those people who had occupied India. But they were all harcorfe patriots. How could you even think of comparing them with the current breed of terrorists, driven by a group of religious fanatics, who only know how to kill the innocent people for no considerations for their country or fello-citizens?

The difference between Buddhist violence and violence by the followers is that while the scriptures of Buddhism talks about the "well being of all living things" the others talk of "fighting in the cause of god till there is only religion in the whole world"

Read the scriptures of the religions to know what it preaches rather than going by the actions of its followers.

Mahabharata and Ramayana are not "holy books" like some others claiming that their book is air-dropped by some supreme creator! The tenets of hinduism are spread in hundreds of books and no sane hindu will tell you that the contents of their books are irrefutable or for meant for the mankind for all times to come. Despite of all short-comings, hinduism is dynamic enough to change with times.

All religions have outlived their utility. So the sooner we all come out of the religious dogmas, the better for the mankind.

message to the pseudo-secular Hindus
by rishi on Jun 05, 2008 12:33 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Arup and other good hearted pseudo-seculars:

You are looking at Islam from the benevolent eyes of a Hindu.

Islam and its followers look at you from their hateful eyes of as a "Kafir". Koran's "humanity begins and ends with the "Ummah".

This is what you and other pseudo-seculars dont understand. And that is why Hinduism has lost 70% of its population and 60% of its territories to Islam.

Thanks to Allah for showing us the true path and the way to salvation.
1. Five time prayer (keep us on time)
2. Pay zakat (yearly charity of 2.5% out of our savings for poor relatives or people)
3.Fast for 30days during ramzan
4.Haj
5. Strong believe in God and his prophets
I dont know how many people follow it but one who follows get peace at heart and one who believe and fear allah would never do any mischief even in the dark

There is a misunderstanding. The Koran clearly states it is intended for whole mankind and not just the Muslims.

In fact Muslims who don't obey the Koran (terrorists, drunkards etc) are considered as grave sinners who would go to hell by the Koran itself. On the other hand, Islam excuses a non-Muslim till the time the true message of Koran reaches them.

Arup dont be an idealist fool..either say the way it is or go away...Islam is not another form of humanity at all..its imperialistic and simply uses God. It is a copy of Jewish texts skillfully used by Arab leader who projected himself a prophet. Islam has messed up the world since.
