Why it took this long to explain the deal?? Is it because the Govt of India was forced by IAEA exposing the deal thru the web?? And now that the deal is explained, why the tearing hurry?
Let concerned people understand, let new governments come in India and USA and let them sign.
If only Manmohan and Bush can sign the deal, then there is something fishy about the deal! Either for India or for USA.
The tearing hurry to sign, lack of transparancy, blatant lies in Parliament, 7% of total power met by nuclear in 2020 all these make the deal stink.

Reason for hurry is obviously simple. So if you were not in tearing hurry to write and think, you would have got them. This will be a big mile stone for both Manmohan and Bush. Manmohan is already the architect of Economic liberalization, this would make him arcitect of Nuclear policy also. Read Mohanty's post below/
You could take ages to understand and talking to political parties and keep coming up with conspiracy theories and never get anything done and then cry about why there is so much inaction etc in India. Or you could let important people study the deal and go through which is what MM did. Why could Left get somebody to get oaths etc if they were so concerned?
Now there is a talk of 40000 MW by 2020 and 25% by 2050 so that is a big number. Sooner we start, sooner we will get there. Or we could keep on pondering in paralysed state and miss the bus yet again..
All along many among elite supported the deal. Surely US has been a little benovelant with India on this one.The stange point is why UPA has not made the deal clear to public erlier. They are busy trying to keep left parties to see the reason and not bothered about the damage being done to the deal in public eyes.Cong just behaved with left like a frightened and harassed husband do with his wife just to save his family from divorce. Such cases end up in divorce anyway, after the husband become mentally and monetorily bankrupt. Now it is Cong turn. FOr a change this time they or on good side.

Yes, that is true. Commies would have opposed this anyways since they are for slow to no progress in general. Add to it China influence..
I am disappointed in BJP. This is clearly in national interest and even Kalam said so. They should have abstained or let this deal go through and then pull the government. My respect for them has fallen.

Why blaming kalam or bjp. If blame then blame Governement. Do u know what is the agreement? No one among us know exactly what is agreement. There must be fishy something, that is why no disclosure! Remember, before puting opinion in media, this calam & S P leader gone to USA. Why? Guess? Don't know, how much money they got from Nuclear equipment's maker in USA.

I don't care about SP leader but I do think if Kalam and Manmohan think it is good for India, it probably is. By now all the important to big clauses about agreement are out there atleast enough to give good enough idea. On the other hand, conspiracy theory is endless and anything can be said or imagined, it is based on no facts at all.
Confidence motion on July 22. But Confidence is not there; only there is motion... Loose Motion after Nuclear Motion! Congress is in a pathetic situation after suffering from Nuclear Diorrhea.

SADHU COME BACK AGAIN WITH NAME CHANGE.
Our reactors are starved of resources, is well-known. We are deprived of best of technologies in healthcare, telemetry and other fields are also well recorded. The fact that we can not import ultra-light tennis racket speaks of volumes about the international isolation that we are facing today.
Now, at this moment, USA wants to dribble the ball for us.
Let's set aside the reasons for a moment. But USA is dirtying its hands for us in terms of influencing Australia and NSG, IAEA, its own Congress to have a deal with India.
We surely could not have done this all alone.
George Bush wants to do it before end of his tenure.
He has set the whole machinery in roll for this.
And he has succeeded to a large extent.
Bush's positive actions and temperament has even led Obama to go in favour of the Nuclear deal with India.
Chinese have okayed it.
France is all set to open the business with India and may even change its global outlook towards India, which has not been very positive so far.
Well, that's a huge political willingness in favour of India.
India should grab the opportunity. And grab the deal.

- contd.
Whether we "operationalise" the deal in its current flavour depends on us. If we show reluctant at a later stage to buy a particular technology or even show our reluctance about "perpetuity", thenit's business lobby in USA would work hard for India to change the policy.
We do not have to do much.
And slowly, we will have whatever we always wanted.

So all you need is a Tennis racket. You are completely wrong with your observations its USA which need us now not we to a larger extend. It looks all US wants are 3 simple things. India should stop testing Nuclear weapons and hence look weak in defense. India should nod their head in what ever US says,"Yes to all their policies even if it affects our Agriculture and Industries. US can attract anyone anywhere and India had to keep their mouth shut,Remember India has a loud voice in global affairs now.
If Bush and others are so found of India and its people they let them sign a deal where we get fuel as well as test out nuclear weapons.Or at least "UNCONDITIONAL" fuel.
Its Cristal clear its not about nuclear deal bu "ALL ABOUT USA".
RE:Focus of the moment : Take advantage of the political willingness

Do you think India will be testing Nuclear weapons soon? Atleast the scientists had said they do not foresee another test soon. No where it is required to nod to anything. I don't think India will nod anyways. This talk of US taking over Indian foreign affairs is way overblown. India has to take advantage of time to move forward quickly. We are a power deficient country and need rapid strides in infrastructure. Even equipment does not have to be bought from US.

Once I was having coffee in a cafe.
A beautiful girl walked up to me and introduced herself to me. She started chatting. She was intelligent, beautiful and was eager to talk to me.
I kept on thinking "why is she showing interest in me?... "she must have some hidden agenda"..."is she one of those type?"..."Is it my dressing that attracted her?"...."She can not take interest me just like that?...why???...
Well, I could not decide.
And I also could not engage her in some meaningful conersation as I was too worried about the reasons.
Suddenly, she was gone. And after a while, I realized I missed an opportunity befriending a good looking and intelligent girl!
But my self-esteem and weird thoughts came on the way.
I am still waiting for another good looking and as intelligent girl to approach me.
Yes, I am still waiting for that magic to happen .

A good joke. We are not even close to where we should be. We need a lot of energy to grow 9% for next few years.

HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF -- WE ARE HEADING TOWARD STONE AGE LIVING WITHOUT LIGHT, POWER.
The January 2008 issue of Scientific American has an article titled "A Solar Grand Slam" which outlines a plan in which solar power could end U.S. dependence on foreign oil and slash greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In a massive switch from coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear power plants to solar power plants, the U.S. could supply 69 percent of its electricity and 35 percent of its total energy by 2050. The four key elements of the plan are:
A vast area of photovoltaic cells would have to be erected in the Southwest. Excess daytime energy would be stored as compressed air in underground caverns to be tapped during nighttime hours. Large solar concentrator power plants, with molten salt storage, would be built as well. A new direct-current power transmission backbone would deliver solar electricity across the country. $420 billion in subsidies from 2011 to 2050 would be required to fund the infrastructure and make it cost-competitive. The article goes into quite a bit of detail about how the plan would be implemented and financed.
The plan also states that "If wind, biomass and geothermal sources were also developed, renewable energy could provide 100 percent of the nation’s electricity and 90 percent of its energy by 2100."
SO THIS IS WHAT THE US IS DOING. THEREFORE THE OLD TECHNOLOGY AND MACHINES HAVE TO BE SOLD TO SOMEONE. AND THE CONGIS HAVING RECEIVED THE COMMISSIONS HAVE AGREED TO PURCHASE ALL THE CRAP TECHNOLOGY AND MACHINES.....

Dear Rakesh sharma.US donot have that much old equipment to sell to India for N-Power plants and no Nuclear plant will use old and refurbished equipment.Andcoming to solar power,we are very far away from any commerically viable technology as on date. One can not throw water from his pot just because some clouds are seen on horizon. We need safe power. If India is sure of safety there is nothing wrong with N-power as other soucres are becoming scarce day by day.
