My take: Give India another 20 Years. Many ills will be taken care of. It is a very good time for US to partner with India. India will not, ever be like China, a country to fear. It will be a very strong country, and will remain friendly and open. It should not surprise you that the highest rated engineering school in the world is IIT and the highest rated Management school is IIM. Both tougher to get into than MIT and Wharton. Medical schools like AIIMS and CMC Vellore are not household names yet in US but they are names to watch. India has a lot going for it in the realm of higher education. Give it time and not too much either, India will surprise you and very fast.

Development is not having weapons and missiles, but creating friendshi between countries. Development is not high-tech health care, but healthy living conditions that does not cause diseases and necessitates hospitals. Development is not count of rich men, but upbringing downtrodden by birth for no fault of theirs. Development is Sensex gambling, but sustained and steady growth.

Trains - Free riders of cockroaches and rats Ray - Everytime he shows poor people in limelight Sachin - Plays for himself doesnt want to retire gracefully What else India at 61?

It is a total myth that Ray showed poor people in all his movies. He should REAL people.
Many of his movies showcased characters that had a deep intellect and a strong underpinning of ethics and morals.
I think you are one of those that are sucked into Bollywood reality of palatial homes, khadwa chowts, and toothe hue taare...from that angle, Ray was, of course a "hypocrite".

Young people of India are the HOPE of our future. But it is sad & pathetic to say that political parties are exploiting the youths, abusing them destroying by giving the youth (from economically backward families in particular) false hope of an opportunity of a job! They are turning them into criminals at the end jailbirds. & when time comes either they are being killed at party's instincts or by some other tricks. The youth from poor & middle income families always paying the price because of the faulty corrupted system. They don't have true leadership/or role model to follow to. It is a pathetic situation to see the way the youth are being mislead & misguided.
I am writing from Phoenix, AZ and am currently in the MBA program here. I was quite impressed by the railways' financial turnaround, considering there was no increase in the fare. I do have a very serious albeit radical suggestion for the low-cost AC train service.
The "Garib Raths" that are currently being operated (recently introduced) for the poorer section of people, would still not serve the Indian railways too beneficial, even if they reap minimal profits. Many poor passengers don't get to access the trains, since most of it is already booked online (to which the poor have no access to).
With the "metro transit" concept booming in India, starting with the phenomenal success of the Delhi Metro, I suggest it would maker a lot of sense, if Mr. L P Yadav could introduce a no-coach A.C. train, that can ferry "poorer class" of people without space occupying coaches or seats, but still give them the comfort of air conditioned environment.
Tickets for such a super-low-cost A.C. train could be bought at a fixed price (like a general ticket. In other words, it would be a simple coach with minimal space occupying stuff in it, to accommodate maximum number of passengers, but with the air conditioned comfort, the poor people wouldn't mind crowding in.
Also, this would keep away the upper sections of the society from traveling (in these kind of trains), since they would have no coaches, and these would truly be meant for the poor

Pkl. .D.goel, 12.40pm, Wednesday, Aug. 13th 2008 There is hardly another such an achiever as Manekda(Srijut SatyaJita Ray) who made cine films almost like moving cameos of Amar Sonar Banglo's Green landscapes...or Kolkata's bylanes and ghettoised Bengali Bhadralok's quest for respectability through word , colour , movement and grease paint on faces... It was in the best sense an excellent Aparojito the unvanquished despite zillion countre- temps of barbarised urban waste-land that is semi cosmpolitan Kolkata.. Not that Manekda did not face scorching Critiques as well, some from the initiated others who thought he was rationalizing and legitimizing Bengali passivity and reactionary poetising of the unwholesome disease of infected urban ulcers! One of them was actress Nargis who rebuked Manekda from glamourising deprivation.. D. Goel

If you rate a cricketer just by poor performance in one series you cannot find a cricketer who has performed in all the series and fullfilled the thinking of people like.
There is no cricketer in the world who has performed in all the matches
