RE:u can not see the sun with naked eyes!

A very simple and cheap option is to take a few (say about 3 or 4)fully exposed xray sheets (it should be completly black), keep them inbetween two pieces of thick plain glasses and you you can watch the eclipse without any harm. Make sure the xray sheets are fully exposed ie completely black. I read it in some paper long time back and have tried it.
IN THE PAST OF INDIA, KNOWLEDGE WAS LET TO BE KNOWN TO ONLY A FEW SCHOLARS. OTHERS FOLLOWED AND RESPECTED WHAT SCHOLARS UTTERED..!
SCHOLARS HAD NO OTHER WAY OF MAKING THE DUMB/"UN-EDUCATED" FOLK BUT BY INVOLVING GODLY STORIES AND SUPERSTITIONS.. WE LEARNED PEOPLE STILL FOLLOW THE SAME STORIES TO FOLLOW THE RIGHT RULES UNKNOWINGLY..
WHEREAS THE WESTERN PEOPLE KNOW THE PROS AND CONS OF SOLAR ECLIPSE VERY WELL AND THE MESSAGE IS SPREAD TO ALL .. SO, THEY FOLLOW THE RULES KNOWINGLY...!

If you want to lick the posteriors of the West you are welcome to do so. But do not denigrate the Indians. Long before the west started eating cooked food the Indians wrote about the galaxy.

It is not that people follow blidly, they will study philosophy to understand the truth,as we study computer, science and business. The sun ray are harmful to us during elipcs time, it also react on all food items that is the reason we do not eat during and before eclipse.

The knowledge of ECLIPSE is known to indians from ancient times. But europeans could know and prove it just more than 250 years ago. Our saints/mathematicians did it long back. So do not blame indians because the modern people simply follow what western says. Mind It .....

dear friend it seems ur are un aware of Indian science / astrologer, which gave the world the value of ZERO. and precisely calculated the astronomical calculation to 1/1000 seconds, the west was still sleeping dear friend then so your understanding of Indian Culture is valued at ZERO may god bless you!!.

This 'Jack' ass has only enough brains as a 'sparrow'. This fellow does'nt even have the common sense that our astrologers (genuine ones) calculate the eclipses and other natural phenomena without the aid of NASA's sophisticated instruments. If some fools have stupid superstitions which the science or scriptures don't accept, as in any part of the world, that doesn't mean all what is done here is superstition and without any use. Do not negate all those things, simply because you don't believe or understand that!

Good Work Vijay.. Even world now believe in yoga and aayurveda.. They are discovering things, which is gifted to us by our great ancestors
Can someone let me know why it harms the eyes on eclipse when Sun is partial to none, isn't it going to harm more when on normal day we see full Sun thru naked eyes?
RE:Why it harms the eyes when there is no full Sun

There is a reflaction of light, in normal day you receive direct light from sun but during eclips sun light is reflacted when its drop on moon so it has high intensity.

above all reasons are crap... what happens actually is Lord Hanumaan swollows the moon for some time and then take it out back. call me orthodox..but this is only true. these sun moon falling in same line is all crap.

you need to run naked under the sun...that's your treatment...come to nudist beach in france or sweden....we can have fun under the sun...

During the eclipse, only the visible light is blocked but the infra red rays will burn your retina if you look at the sun during the eclipse. During normal days, it is not possible to look at the sun directly for long time due the light intensity.

In normal days we can't scare at the sun at all other than sunrise & sunset timings..
Sun always emits ultra-violet rays which are very harmful to the naked eyes & that is being protected regularly (abosorbed) by the ozone layer which is present above the earth. This ozone layer will get weakned during darken time. This darken happens when moon comes in between earth & sun (eclipse phenomena).
So no protection for us from ultra-violet rays during this time...
Can anybody correct whether my understanding is right!

ozone layer does not affected by day or night. so the fact said by binish babu is correct.

kanna..doesn't matter if the rest of the world follows this or not.. what matters is ..do u follow it?
Yes.. people should take care of their eyes. In excitement, they should not see with naked eye. I profusely thank the Rediffmail for having provided six illustrative pictures with a clarity on the solar eclipse.

??? is son God read properly your meaning is partialey correct try to put in a different way, eclipse -- when the moon will pass directly between the earth and the sun. The partial eclipse will be visible for few minutes.4.03 pm to 5.02pm with the max impact that's is the article about.
