A very simple and cheap option is to take a few (say about 3 or 4)fully exposed xray sheets (it should be completly black), keep them inbetween two pieces of thick plain glasses and you you can watch the eclipse without any harm. Make sure the xray sheets are fully exposed ie completely black. I read it in some paper long time back and have tried it.
