Hey why didnt anyone bother pointing out loop holes in movies like PARTNER,Sholay or Kabhi Kushie Kabhi Gham?Slumdog is a rag to riches story and very charming one too..I saw Slumdog a second time today, and loved it even more!
no need to worry, if some one say it is realty. Cinema is an art and mage for the viewers. if u dont like it . dont worry. slumdog teach us how to reach oscar. the movie is made for the western viewers (and for oscar also). viewers are always prejudice when watching the movie. slums are the culture started in west and spread in to third world contry also. as an indian viewer, this movie is an cult movie. the problem is not with slumdog but with the western world , who always think india is a big slum. west is not ready to accept success of india (whatever % is it). like ramsy horror movie , dada kndke movie, yash raj films , ghai style movie, manmohan style movie, this is another style of movie. personally in my view , if oscar are not rating movie like " A wednesday" , the oscar like award are worthless. I support Big B view.. last year when bheja fry, johney gaddar, sahar, mumbai express , aamir, metro, ets are not recognised by our own filmfare award, I underrated the filmfare award. that is all. if u dont like something, dont cry, just underrate it.

belive me , the movie I tild are really goodone. I see them many times.
4) How did the boy know who invented the revolver just by watching his brother use it? How does his friend know about Benjamin Franklin? 5) “Darshan Do Ghanshyam” is NOT written by Surdas. It is written by Gopal Singh Nepali for the movie Narsi Bhagat (1957). This song is also credited as traditional and originally written by 15th century poet Narsi Mehta, whose life that film is based on. 6) After winning the game-show, the boy sits on the railway platform and nobody recognizes him! Considering the popularity of the show, is that realistic? 7) Two glaring omissions: To qualify for the show one has to answer several GK questions over phone or Internet. Even after making it to the show, a contestant can reach the hot-seat, only after “fastest finger first”. All this is conveniently forgotten in the film. 8) And of course the greatest flaw in the storyline: programmes like 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' and 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' are NOT telecast live. As a result the entire structure of the film becomes unrealistic. For a film that boasts of being realistic such a flaw cannot be overlooked. Anyone else wants to say this is a g-r-e-a-t film despite all these flaws?

4) Its not just by watching him. His Brother calls himself "The guy with Colt 47". Revolver was invented by Samuel Colt.
5) Darshan Do Ghanshyam was infact written by Surdas whatever the debate going around. This song was a few centuries later sung by Manna De for the movie 'Bhakta Surdas'. Maybe the lyrics were changed a bit for the movie but that doesn't take away the originl credits. Just like Mann Kunto maula was written by Amir Khusro and not Nusrat Fateh Ali or Sabri brothers.
7) One doesn't have to answer several but a single question on phone. Anyone can answer that because there is plenty of help available and no time limit. Fastest fingers first was not there in earlier episodes of KBC. Moreover the show wasn't KBC.
8) The show is not telecast live but that doesn't mean it can't be telecast live. At the end of the day it was a movie and not a documentary on how KBC or WWTBAM are made.

just knowing the name of the gun made him so sure that the same person must ve invented it.......
Beggar across the street knows about benjamin franklin..
4.00 am in the morning some juvenile kids run to a 5 star hotel.... and reserve a room...!!! and that too a hotel without any visible employees.... something out of the ordinary in India...
Americans coming to tour Taj Mahal and they dont even know the time period of the Taj... the tour guide says that Mumtaz went to visit a doctor in an autorickshaw... (or something like that) and they fall for it....
and the most embarrassing dialogue... this is real india... when the constable smacks Jamal and the American woman dishes out a $100 bill and says let me show u how america looks son....!!! The scene was so embarassing .... felt like hiding some face somewhere.... ugghhh......
The children in this movie are the real stars of this film, how come they have been totally sidelined during award cermonies. Dev Patel, Anil Kapoor etc have small footages in the actual movie. Its the KIDS that make this movie what it is.
Look at the hero. He only appears in the police station and then at the end. The real stars are the Children.
Dev Patel is walking around that he made the film. Anil Kapoor thinks he has made it big in hollywood? This is just a joke!

I too agree...even though Anil kapoor keps on saying in the interviews that " All credit goes to the kids" but he is also not shy of taking the credit for the success.
I would like 2 tell my friends here that the slums shown in the movie slumdog millionaire is not a hollywood studio. The cameraman just took his camera through the actual slums of mumbai. Most of the people here do not want to accept the reality. They are happy watching some Karan Johar movies where life is colourful. And let me tell u, mumbai is no newyork.More than 50% of the population reside in slums.Has anyone noticed the street urchins who come and knock at the windows of cars and other beggars.Nobody cares to look into their lives .Everyone should understand that Danny Boyle hasnt shown anything unreal in Slumdog Millionaire. Most of the tourists come to the city not because it has some wonderful spots like Paris.Slums are those which attract them.the political parties and BMC should do their best to remove slums and improve their living conditions.Guys, just accept that you people donot want to watch some hard hitting reality. Not beacause the movie is bad.

I do not understand how the people like you can dare to talk like that.In spite of criticizing the movie which makes fun of Indians you are talking totally absurd. What do you think there are no slums in America or England? If you think so you have are living in a shell and does not know the reality. This film just made the fun of Indian people. In spite of showing the rich Indian culture and heritage this film has made fun of India. So,guys boycott it.
I was watching slumdog millionaire after a hard morning's work...thought to catch up with the buzz of the new movie causing waves...around the world.. but..i was totally disappointed..very depressed after seeing a movie..what made them make such an idiotic movie..do they mean to say that Indian kids..and Indians are theives..not too good at anything..and that India comprises of only the slums...i am shocked..the next time any Indian wants to make a movie..i humbly request them to go and check out the situation prevailing in the USofA...people are desperate to leave the area..they are hungry and jobless..here Indians are great at heart...have lots of talent and make great use of it..We are very credible and successful people who have high integrity and have sustained several calamities/ tragedies but have still come up in our respective lives..unlike the westerners.. overall..i would appreciate if rahman refuses to accept the award..it is a mockery of our prestige.. from nowonwards..if any such movie is being made...people should stop watching it.. SLUMDOG IS THE WORST FILM I HAVE EVER SEEN...PERHAPS THE ENTIRE INDIAN CINEMA HAS SEEN...

i agree with you dude...i was totally disappointed and annoyed. It just portrays India as poor country, and indians as baddies throughtout the movie. Not a single scene which depicts our greatness...i pity for Rahman.

in what world do you stay? do you really stay in india? are refusing the poverty and slums shown in the movie? then you are insulting those slum people who struggle so much just to survive. think about it. movie wasnt really about it. it was about lots of human emotions encompassed in one movie. and this could happen in any poor country. not just india.

let me say at the outset that i don't intend to offend or influence anyone. the views expressed here are entirely my own. i checked out slumdog.... yesterday and am still wondering as to how this film has got so much of acclaim. not to say that it's a bad film but really.... i have seen better films than these(lagaan,RDB,TZP,chak de...being among them). slumdog is nothing more than a masala potboiler. the acting's par excellence, the direction's brilliant but i seriously think the script could have been better. my rating's 3/5
Re: it's only a masala potboiler!
by My Opinion on Jan 29, 2009 02:05 AM Permalink
sure. its your opinion. and that shows how ignorant you are. what improvement do you suggest in the script to get it to rating if not 5 then 4/5? how it would have been better.
and dont call it as masala potboiler. you have no right to deny the struggle and existence of slum people. It is insulting to say that their life which is full of struggle throughout just to survive is a masala potboiler. it is very disappointing and shocking. it is reality shown in movie. if dont believe then try to educate yourself and go to mumbai slum. dont you insult those people by denying their existence.
