Hindi is the national language, a fact which is getting lost in this regional politics
by Guest on Sep 09, 2008 05:02 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Jaya was just trying to encourage the youngsters to speak in an Indian language rather than english, that is why she said that since I am from UP, I will speak in Hindi, just like Raj Thackeray says that I am from Maharashtra and I will speak in Marathi. And it is this man only who says that the Bacchans are not Maharashtrians, then why should he object when Jaya says she is from UP and she will speak in Hindi. Plus since Raj Thackeray wants Maharastra for Maharashtrians only then why should he allow other state people to speak Marathi, shouldnt he safegaurd the Marathi language also from non Maharashtrians. What kind of demand is this, that Maharashtra is not everybodys, but everybody here should speak in Marathi?
Raj Thackeray is just using these issues for political purposes and the common man is getting beaten up in all these controversies.

You are righ. Hindi is national language. Jaya has right to speak in Hindi. But Jaya's tone, guestures on that occassion were absolutely objectionable. Her tone was deffinately of posing challange as to show guts if anybody had,of course to MNS,for whatever she did ar said. This was totalyy uncalled for. Had she spoken in hindi without mentioning of marathi or maharashtrians, nobody would have noticed it. Jaya you erred and that too intentionally. Now say sorry publicly and learn lesson at least now.

Nobody says or forces marathi, There are 100 of shows going on in hindi everyday in Mumbai, it's about Mrs. Jaya Bacchan's sarcastic remarks "maharashtra ke log hame maaf kare" that did it...

to me the way she said it, its obvious that her comment was directed at Raj since he has been delibeately targetting her family and hindi speaking people in general. If anything she said that she would speak in hindi rather than in English. Now how this offends our marathi brethren frankly escapes me.

Shefali,

As per our Constitution, Hindi is not our National Language, it is our official language.

The issue is that most of us are ignorant by thinking that Hindi is our National Languge but if we read Indian Independence history, we will come to know that Hindi and English are our Official Languages.

That's right; Hindi is the 'official language of the Central govt of India'. English is also an official language. Many people in UP and Bihar are ignorant of this fact and learning it the hard way.

There was no need for Mrs Bachchan to rake this issue now. This has only helped push moderate, mainstream Maharashtrians to support Raj Thakre. This will have very serious consequences if other political parties (ShivSena, NCP and Congress to name a few) perceive this shift and get into the fray. For a politician, this was an extremely irresponsible statement.

The Bachchans have become damaged goods in Maharashtra.

Mera manna hai ki Jaya Bachhan ji kya pehli baar kisi hindi film ke baare mein bol rahi thi kya isse pehle kabhi kisi film ke baare mein nahi kaha unhone ? kaha hai ya kaha hoga magar zyadatar actors apni hindi film ke baare mein english mein bhashan dene lag jaate hai. Aaj achanak Jaya ji ko kyu yaad aaya ki Drona ek hindi film ay fir woh UP ke log hai to hindi mein hi baat karengein ? Agr woh ye kehti ki Hindi hamari rashtra bhaasha hai isliye hum hindi bolengein to baat bilkul durust hoti lekin apne praanth ke baare mein bolke unhone galti kardi. Khair ab unhoni maafi maang hi li hai to mera khayal hai ki galti to har koi karta hai.

The bachhan family owes its wealth to their popularity and saleability as movie stars, which in turn is mainly due to their iconic status in the hindi heartland and rest of india including maharashtra.Among other things Amitabh owes his fame to his 'chhora ganga kinare wala' avatar. So what if he builds a girl school their. U guys speak as if all mumbaikars provide donations so that the bachhans can stay rich. For that matter how many schools has our champion of marathi pride built till date.He too is a migrant.what is his contribution to the progress of maharashtra other than mud raking and rabble rousing?

I agree he should be given a nav-vaari sari to wrap his buck-buck tocks...

... also he should be given a narco test to verify whether he said "Guddi buddhi zhali pan akal malach aali" (Guddhi has grown old but all the wisdom of the world has come to me, Thokarey) about Jaya Bachchan, who played the role of Guddi.

JAYA BACHHAN'S STATEMENT
by ABHIJIT DATARAM MOHADIKAR on Sep 09, 2008 02:01 PM  Permalink

WE SHOULD ALSO CHECK BACKGROUND OF THE SITUATION WHY SHE SAID LIKE THAT, WHETHER THE REPORTER/ANCHOR HAS ASKED HER TO SPEAK IN MARATHI. AND AFTER THAT IF SHE HAS MADE SUCH STATEMENT THEN IT IS NOT ACCEPTED, BUT IF ANCHOR/REPORTER HAS ASKED TO SPEAK HER IN ANY LANGUAGE AND THEN SHE MADE SUCH STATEMENT, WE SHOULD SEE THE BACKGROUND OF THE INCIDENT ALSO.
