Hindi is our rastira basha. so what is wrong in speaking in Hindi. Moreover Mahrastra is not tamilnadu where majority doesnot know Hindi due to dravidan politics. Sivasena is unnecessary making issues for their political gain and My sincere appeal to everyone that don't encourage such cheap political motives

People who want to stay in Maharashtra must speak Marathi. Learn Marathi or Leave Maharashtra.
Staying in mahahrashtra, I think she should know marathi. Opening this controversy what did she gain.,i think so nothing but being a joker front of eveyone. Whatever shivsainik have omment it is righ. if u value so much of U.P hindi y dont she stay over there or go to south or assam and try out same sentence let see who is backing her.

If one has to speak the language of the state one resides in, then imagine the plight of Armymen who get transferred every two years! They will probably have to concentrate on learning the state language than doing what they are supposed to do! It is high time Shivsena was banned. Such ideas can only lead to balkanisisation of our motherland.

It's time to declare a WAR against Bachchans family. People who want to stay in Maharashtra must speak Marathi. Learn Marathi or Leave Maharashtra.

Can u force anybody to speak in their langauage??? If I am staying in USA then I donot have right to speak in English
And If people are not speaking in Marathi then what u will do will burn people alive???
I think that India should divide into 28 different countries and speak different languages. Even if this will never happen, if it happens people will still fight over the dialects. Our country does not stand united since it is full of crappy & selfish idiots from media persons to politicians to sporting personality to bollywood! Keep fighting good luck !
as she is living in mumbai from last 30 years i think any normal human can learn the local language. far from that she can speak in hindi as it is our national language. But as from she belongs to uttarpradesh she cannot use the state word. basically she is bengali but bengali is not national language if pride to on it she should use bengali for ever.

I don't agree. In a press conference like this one she is supposed to speak either in English or Hindi. It doesn't make any sense to talk in any other regional language...
But the statement appended about people from maharashtra was unnecessary!

BUT JAYA SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD RAISED SUCH PROVOCATING WORDS!! SHE DID IT PURPOSEFULLY, TAUNTING & ENUENDO WILL NOT HELP BACCHAN FAMILY. AMITABH & HIS FAMILY HAVE RECEIVED LOT OF LOVE & FAME ONLY IN MAHARASHTRA. IF THEY WOULD HAVE HAD REMAIN IN THEIR HOME TOWN, I DONT THINK THEY MIGHT HAVE HAD GOT SUCH POPULARITY. THEY HAVE CONTRIBUTED WELL TOWARDS INDIAN (BOLLYWOOD) FILMS. BUT IF THEY WILL START THINKING HIGH THEMSLEVES LIKE THIS & START PASSING NAUGHTY COMMENTS LIKE THIS THEY WILL RECEIVE eeat ka jabab patthar se!

Ohh really it is nothing to do with Maharashtra but to do with Hindi film industry, i repeat HINDI. Throw bollywood out and everyone will go. Dare it!!!

I guess nobody is against speking in Hindi, but the statement tailored was unnecessary.
But again there is no need to make an issue out of this. MNS doesn't seem to understand the real problems people have. Nobody is dying hungry because somebody else is speaking in hindi. People need education, infrastructure, removal of poverty etc more than this stupid regional debate.
And Bacchans seem to be happy pouring oil in fire as well

I am hindi guy. But I must say Jaya was foolish and thoughtless when she said that. What she spoke was not as obnoxious as they way it was put. The worst part is that the statement has given another fodder to a young gullible politician trying to make his mark in politics.
To me,, Jaya Bachchan is using same old cheap tactic to be (in)famous by throwing controversial statements in public. Basically she is from Bengal and not from UP. And there was no need of such statements especially when : 1) She is graduated from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, MAHARASHTRA (and not Bengal) 2) She has started her Hindi film career in Mumbai (again not in Bengal).

The fact is she was allowed to start that career in Hindi in marathi state says lot of marathi people and Maharashtra. But looks like she is abusing the hospitality now.
It was an unnecessary statement. Jaya should not indulge into these controversies. Neither Jaya nor Raj is getting effected, but few Bihari will die or will find their bone broken in the process. These statement actually shows no respect for each other's Culture. I am a bengali settled in Gujarat for the last 22 years and I feel I am as Gujarati as I am Bengali. I respect Gujarat and Gujarati Ashmita. Jaya should restrain.
