Keeping diesel prices lower at the cost of adding it in Petrol price is the Worst hypocrisy in India. When you are allowing all costly cars to run by Diesel and giving subsidy to rich people as well as to the travel agencies. Unfortunately there is no media coverage on this issue. Govt MUST ban running private cars and travel agency cars running by heavily subsidized diesel. Mr.Oil minister if you have the guts please give suitable reason.
Dependance on oil should be less from now onwards .The folllowing measures should be taken emediately 1. All the companies including Gov sector shold start pick up service for the employees so that no body uses buses or trains to come to office .Fuel uses can be restricted by at least by 25% in a metro city 2. For shorter distance ,we should use only cycle .Ihis way cycle sales will be more and the cycle Industries will be saved from ruining .10% less fuel uses in a metro city 3.Further shoter distances ,people should walk for at least half to 1 km distances to remain healthy .further 10% of fuel uses can be saved in a metro 4.People should stop any kind of tourism by car/bus/train for at least 2 years as an emergency precaution .Further 15% fuel can be saved for the metro people 5. Vehicles with alternative energy should get started . 6. all cities buses /taxis/autos should be converted to CNG Now clubing all metros ,we can save 50 % of fuel in India .This measures are urgently required as this will not only save our fuel bill but also will save against pollution and thus we the Indians can play a vital role against Global warming .

Hyundai's father can't do it at nano's cost. They are a failure even in Diesel or LPG car sector.
The key term for oil price surge is PEAK OIL which no leader seems to be talking about.
1. Oil follows a Hubert bell shaped curve and now we are at the top of the peak. The world in the begining of non oil period had close to several trillion barrels of which 1/2 has been used. Presuming a linear consumption it will take the same time of 30 years for oil to be exhausted. But it aint linear hence depletion will be much faster.
US and russia donot want to tap their reserves knowing the above situation to maintain control
The real reason for afghan war was to tap Caspian oil and 9/11 was an self created excuse, ditto iraq war
Gulf oil wells are close to depletion, alternatives like wind and hydro are cost and energy inefficient, OPEC does not increase its production for its own survival.
Oil executives know it pretty well but remain silent so as not to affect share prices.
Oil either goes directly into any product of your daily life or as a logistical factor, lack of it will plunge us to stone age. It is a doomsday scenario.
Please key in the terms "peak oil" or go to 'wolfatthedoorstep" website, these are well researched scientific sites.
Please see where our posterity is headed. Oil which was pretty cheap is most precious and needs to be used for most important things like public transport, medicines, agri etc not for santros and nanos or gensets.
If the oil disappears the world is expected go back to stone age, which is called the OLDUVAI theory.

Hubert was a oil expert working for SHELL oil and he made the above findings, Shell had requested him not to publicise the findings, but Hubert went ahead and did so. Recently Shell CEO had done the same and the share prices fell down and he was fired
Why is rediffmail and other fake journalists of the country so afraid to do a through investigative report on why the crude oil prices are rising. Its so funna that the above story is titled "why crude oil price is zooming" but they have not given any answer to it as to why???? Who is raising this price? Why people are so afraid of US

well said,i was just reading this article n i had the same question, rediff talk about everything but the main topic...
All over the world people are reading this. Why rediff showing bullock cart is using to take oil here. Show some good picutres of truck or railway wagen, which we are really using here.
Everyone of you has given some interesting suggestions which can be implemented , but practically implication of this suggestions would be like discrimination of richer and poorer . Where as our country being only one nation in entire globe who talks about equal right.
Hence I dont think we should go with this kind of suggestion.
Rather Rationing of Oil can be done same like Kerosine.
Depending on the family size quantity of petrol should be decided. Same like distribution of kerosine in India through Rationing shops.
At the same time any family requiring extra petrol can get the same on premiums.
i.e. If petrol is available for say 55 Rs. / Ltr. and the quantity for a family of four people is say 20 Ltrs. / Month If the family requires say 25 Ltrs. / month which means 5 ltrs. extra then the balance 5 would be available on premiums may be @100 rs./ltr.
This way country would save ample of foreign money , $ reserves would increase and would generate good amount of revenue for the nation.
Pl. comment on same if u do not agree with the same.

Rationing? Seems nice to hear...but..just imagine your office is 35kms from home...and mine is 3 kms...who would need more fuel? Say if you need more for emergency..say someone is hospitalized and you need to shunt between home and hospital? Wouldnt your need suddenly go up? Anything other than market driven (or in other words, need driven) is bound to cause trouble and result in rampant corruption. The best that can be done is reduce the taxes on fuel ( which is more than 35%)...thats the best govt (state and center) can do for us..but is reluctant to do so. And if they do so right now...they can infact keep the status quo on todays prices at the current oil prices...From here on let it be market prices...no complex cross subsidies..and over taxing the very same item to recover the subsidy in the process making it more expensive.

Rationing on fuel is impossible to be a reality. There are much better areas to control: 1. Ban all diesel driven cars private or travel agent. It should be only petrol driven and then increase petrol cost to double. Diesel vehicles should be only for public transport. 2. Use of generators except for public place should be banned. 3. Tax on private cars should be linked with it's running kms not yearly or life basis. PS- I know nothing will change in India. We are wasting our time.

Though what you say may be a good idea in paper,is it possible to implement it in our country ridden by the most corrupt officials. As it is even now I see so many gas cylinders meant for the public being used by the hotel people even now. In this position is it possible to implement the rationing properly.
