by Vijay Ranavat on Jan 31, 2008 11:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why indians are always want to do job, See the indian domestic market, select a product and start the business, i know its not easy but its the future, buying power of indian are gone up. job is a very big trap, working for an IT company is like slave, IT people get good money but no family life, they see the world but its temporary, try to build a business, it will do good for ur next generation also.

You can do business in India unless you are corrupt.

You are blind:) Keep your eyes open.
You will find that more employee layoff from Innovative/product companies. More salary & high risk for job. Don,t compare the product and services companies. They have entire diffrent process.

Recent one "Tata nano". In US many people asked about this product on the day it launched. This feature covered everywhere in USA.
Tata funded CRL launched Asia's fastest super computer.

Nano is not an idea It is a cost based vehicle.
PC is an idea. Communism is an idea. TV is an idea. Mobile is an idea. Low cost mobile is not an idea. But hates off to Tata for the Nano.

Can Asians think? That's not a racist slur, it's the title of a book by Singapore diplomat Kishore Mahbubani. While he offers no answer, the question he poses is excellent and long overdue.

The facts are not in dispute: 1,000 years ago China under the Song Dynasty was the world's most advanced nation. Even 300 years ago China under the Qing rulers was first among equals. Yet in the past 100 years, the West's superiority over Asia has widened exponentially over any advantage the East ever enjoyed. No civilization with such a commanding lead, not even classical Greece, has declined more dramatically. The issue is not about economic growth or engineering dexterity; Asia's record in these areas is indisputable. It's about originality of the mind and its resulting influence over how mankind shapes the world.

I know nothing about the firings. Could you point to a media article that says that. Grossly incompetent employees MUST be fired. Otherwise TCS provides quite a stable work environment, I am told. People stay on bench for months, and still take their pay packet home!

Either u r not into IT or belong to a TCS competitor. I do hope you r the later and its only a matter of time before u get hit too. TCS just had the guts to accept that it has been hit.
India is dependent on US but its just a matter of time when UK and US also realise their dependency on India. If all of us Indian techies decided to boycott US one day, they would fall flat on their face. Because, my dear, if we 'glorified coolies' are not there, they won't be able to drag their baggage for long..!!

The truth hurts. I admire the Tatas but we were getting arrogant. Indians by nature are humble.
I am not in IT nor a TCS competitor.

There's a very thin line between bravery and stupidity. From your comments I can understand the jealousy you have against IT professionals. We have contributed a lot in India's economic rise in the past few years because of us and you should appreciate that rather than grumble like an old granny. It seems the TCS pay cut had affected your senses more than that of the TCS employees themselves...!!

Surag, Do you know how much these cyber coolies pay as income tax to Indian Govt. Most of them pay more than 1 lakh per year. This is being utilised for India's growth. You try to match with their skills or contribution. Or else keep quiet!

Web 2.0 will leave India with a zero
by Surag Singh on Jan 31, 2008 11:13 PM  Permalink

If you enter the call center hate into the popular search engines, you get over two and a half million pages.

Have our IT and BPO companies done anything to build a positive brand image with the people of America?

IBM organized the famous Deep Blue versus chess grandmaster Garry Kasparov face off, Amazon sponsors online short film festivals, Apple designs iconic products like the iPod. Sun Microsystems holds an 'in-world' press conference to show off its new pavilion in Second Life, the popular 3D online world. The list is endless.

Now name any consumer initiative from Indian tech companies?

Can you think of any breakthrough recruitment advertising even in India?

Do Indian technology companies come across as innovators?

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind.

Is it any wonder then that Indians are seen as %u201Cjob stealers%u201D and %u201Ccyber coolies%u201D?

If our vaunted tech companies continue with their current staid ads and investor PR events, then not only will they face the ire of jobless Americans, but will also implode from within due to high attrition rates and lack of people who understand Web 2.0.
