Hindu rate of growth
by Gajanan Netravali on Feb 01, 2008 02:46 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Today's GDP growth should be called the Hindu rate of Growth. What was previously referred to as the Hindu Rate of Growth should be called the "Congress rate of growth" since Congress was running the Govt.

Eh? Meaning now it is the hindus who are running the country, and not the Congress, right?

Disgust for the Congress is all very well. But why this penchant for eating your feet?

Whole world knows that china and india are going to be next economic super power. The world economy in coming decades will evolve around them. But only problem is not many indian understand this. They dont realise that economic growth has to be focus point. No 1 agenda. everything else secondary. Today we have millions of middle class enjoying jobs/business work and living a better lifestyle. Thanks to this pvt companies. Many poor people/lower class people will jump to the category of midle class in coming years as economy grows. More pvt company will come up and they will creat more and more jobs/income for more and more indians. This is only way india can rise, bcome rich. Govt cant do anything with its anti progress policy and curruption, govt can only create obstacle in the growth. But there are many indian business indian who are commited to make india economic superpower and we educated people should support them whole hearteldy. Jai hind.

All this is great but how many people still lanquish under the poverty line?

Government should tone down its new-fangled role as a spin doctor and find ways to disseminate the benefits of this growth to all levels!

The reality on the ground fools no one!!

World is showing that India has 8 billion poor people
IN India Rich people are getting rich by eating the land
of poor people.
Politician are getting rich by eating the funds of poor people
The poor people are dieing because of hunger.
Finance minister has shown that till they are in power GDP will grow by 10% every year and that they will definite becoming richer next year.

Why poor people in India are poor because they want to get money without doing anything. They need to get new skills so give service to rich & earn pie out of the money rich got. I will tell you my story. I am from middleclass family. I used my brothers book untill 12th. Never driven bike untill I started job for 3 years. Even not gone on school picnic after 3rd standard. Still I got good engineering degree with good marks. I don't have money to join C,C class during my engineering so never went to IT. But learn many new things so far. I am still average engineer & support my family including my brother's family. Still I have sufficient money to purchase car & flat. This is because of India shining. My fasther used to tell my cousins to learn but they never listen to him. Now they still leave in same houses without money. What make me & they different is my skill as engineer. Why I take advantage of new economy is my skill. When poor will give more attention to learn new things then only they will get out of poverty. Marely thinking that GOvt will do something is wrong. Politicians are bad but we elect them. If you think to change things then go out talk with people to give vote to right person. after the college we friends collectively helped one of friends sister to elect as corporator & through her got some work done which were pending from long time. This was at my 22 yrs age. Doing something like that will change other wise

NO.. just look at people working in railway tracks, dont you think they work hard, do you think there children can afford good education,
anyways buddy its really nice to see someone's life resembling mine but i got settled in 24

n the whole world put together does not have 8 billion people man! zara akkal laga ke likh. Our population is 1.1 billion, out of which I'm sure 800 million have been left out by the boom in the economy. However, wealth does trickle down ultimately and it is the job of the govt to provide education and infrastructure so that the800 million can benefit from this trickle down effect.

well said, Sriram. Unless, the wealth created is distributed (albeit, not in communist terms), we cannot call ourselves anything close to 'developing' country. All the GDP created are in knowledge based industrial sector, whre only the urban educated participate and benefit. Majority of the uneducated population do not have to do anything in this.

India is growing !!!
by Reporter on Jan 31, 2008 11:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Yes... India is growing @10 % a year ...... But can we see the effect in India apart from new townships, high rise buildings etc etc which are meant for rich people .... Can India build good housings for 1.4 billion people by 2040 ? Quality facilities for them ?? Food, water, air ???? When will India be able to make infrastructure for all the citizens as we can see now in western countries ??? All the towns and cities in western world, developed countries, are paved and beutiful. Can we ever achieve that ??They have close access to road, rail and air networks........ Then Howmany airports, railway stations we need to make ??? How many trillion trillion money has to be invested..... Is there any planning here ????

Atleast the govt. must dictate family planning , as China did decades ago .......

India will explode with population BOMB of 2 billion people by 2060. Canada 9% of world area and only 0.3% of world population, 2nd largest petrol reserves, is privilaged nation.

by Ashok Gupta on Jan 31, 2008 02:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When demand rises it triggers off the supply. In India its mainly the IT sector doing extremely well hence the demand. The manufacturing is rising also because of this plus the credit offered by the institutions. Investments in shares from overseas has seen a rise in the sensex and now that they are withdrawing their money its down. Economy of USA is 5-6 times more than that of china and inspite of what our leaders say we are dependent on the USA and Europe markets. We are in a volotile situation as some of us are very fortunate while others cannot afford even a meal or roof over their heads. In between lies the truth of our economy.
As individuals we must do what will enable us to get jobs and earn a living and can contribute to the GDP.

yes right now we are still dependent on the US but slowly and surely the wheels will turn around and it is western countries which will have to depend on India to provide labour of all kind(high, low, medium) so that they float around. The rise of China and India is inevitable and inexorable. It is driven by simple demographics.

and India will explode with population bomb. just 2% of land area of the world having 20% to 30% of people of the world by 2040, and most of them really poor like dirt. Farmers are killing themselves and agriculture will be destroyed. Already India has to import wheat, and all the pulses from abroad.

Everything depends on how much money you have and I have lots of it, so I dont worry about all that. Forests etc leave all that and prepare for the 2nd great depression. It boils down to individual richness and I am sure I am more richer than you fool. On and on you go about this and that. And by the way I have none of the diseases that you mentioned about. Okay I don't mean to be rude but obviously neither of u is really understanding the crux of the issue. I am an architect and i have stayed in India most of my life.currently i'm in Italy studying Industrial design.Since I am competent to comment let me tell you New Delhi is a very well deisgned city.European cities have very good infrastructure but they are really not much better off than we are. Even here there are the same urban problems which Indian cities face-to some extent.
Westereners hold India in very high regard. I have met many imp people during my academic carrier including Mukesh Ambani, and Amartya Sen and all of them were equally optimistic about India. As i'm going to be an automobile designer next month with Volvo of Sweden I can tell you india buys more cars than all of Europe combined. So stop crying u fool, its because of under acheiving pessimists such as yourself that we are still a developing nation.

If you stay in delhi i bet you break traffic rules, bribe officials, swear on the other drivers while driving, not respect womwen drivers. its because of people like u that India is dirty. And now u want to leave India for another country, where you will be well behaved but not in India. Why?
And don't talk to me about money. It isn't a measure of anything.I earn 1/2 million Euros a year, which is more money you'll ever see in your lifetime. And i'm only 24.
Think about it.

You seem to be ignorant.

European Union car sales 14 million units in 2007
USA car sales 15 million units in 2007
India car sales 1.2 million in 2007

In other words India with 5 times higher population buys 14 times LESS cars than India.

You must be foolish to assume and blab without checking FACTS.
