Mr. Laloo, Railway Minister presented the rail budget 2008 %u2013 09 very trickily or cleverly to appease the voters, particularly in his states. First, he has pretended himself as very generous to shed away the load of fares on all classes from sleeper to AC-I. Of course, all these reduction of fares will be only effected when coaches of increased capacity will be on line. As per the various media it learnt that at least 7 %u2013 8 year may take to implement on increased capacity coaches. We should recall the last rail-budget also where he proposed the similar concession to the fare structure and that too was not effected.
Secondly, he told also the honourable members of Lokshabha that Rs. 25000 crores became surplus. But he has not opened his padora%u2019s box to show the true surplus money. We know railway has to pay government of India a good dividend. That may not go below 4.5 thousands crores, if not more. Besides, for 6th pay commission another 5 or 6 thousands crores of rupees to the employees in addition to Rs. 5000 crores kept in the present budget. That means, approximately straightway actual Surplus is coming not more than Rs.15,000 /15500 thousands crores.
Mr. Basudeb Achariya, MP and Chairman Railway Standing Committee also described this budget full of stories and ineffective promises for the said reasons in the media.
In Indian Railways all coach are made of Steel. No coach is made of oth
Can you just take some steps to display the stations on the coaches, next station on express, mail, passengers or shatabdi, janshatabdi & rajdhani, so as to the passengers neednot ask everyone which is the next statuion & thier destination comes at what time??? like the facilities given in (some)suburban trains in Mumbai.
Railways will also issue wait-listed e-tickets: This is a very good step . if this will be there then probably , you won't find any rush in the booking counters.
If even half of this list is actually implemented, it will be a miracle in India's history. Therefore, I feel that we cannot trust this to actually happen. I'm copying the list and we'll see next year how many items can be ticked off as even started, forget partially done and completed.
Quality of travel should be improved. The platforms should be clean and tidy and even the interiors of trains should be upgraded. What we have is vintage trains with very very poor toilet and other facilities.

Kerala got an industry for producing 1000 coaches a year, Karnataka got Garib Rath trains. What do you want, he starts train from your house to your office??
To give credit where it is due, it is indeed commendable that in just 3.5 years, Railways which was perenially in the red, has now 25,000 crores in surplus !! And this was done by someone we least expected it from. Good job Laloo !!
