They will have to do better on the pricing. the 16GB model is available now in India at Rs 28000 in the grey market and is USD 500 (rs 20000) in the USA.

But if your "unlocked" phone in India has GPRS enabled, it would get automatically when you connect GPRS. It would cost you Rs.3000/- to unlock the phone again!!

Nonsense! Who told you that?! I have had an unlocked iPhone since September which I have used with GPRS enabled both in India as well as in the United States. It is still working fine.
The only way to get it locked again is to upgrade it when a new firmware is shipped out through iTunes. If you say "No" when iTunes asks you if you want to upgrade your firmware, everything works fine.
Apple had recently announced the introduction of 3G iPhones. I was wondering if the iPhone that Apple will launch in India is 3G enabled or not. BTW, from a few reliable sources I have heard that Bharti (Airtel) are soon going to start their 3G services in India.
I currently own a N95(grand daddy of all phones) and it quite rocks (esp. with the v20 firmware). 28k for iPhone, hmmm, not worth-while; just the multi-touch interface does not impress me so much the third-party application support is as good as Nil.
However, iPhone communicates really well with all the other Apple products.
I don't know why this phone is being compared with HTC. It can be used for normal email (using microsoft entourage similar to outlook for windows),Microsoft office for Mac for ppt, documents apart from runnig the usual fun stuff. I have even managed to run the Terminal facility for MAC on my iphone. Remember unlike windows mobile, it has a full fledged Mac OS running. So anything that runs on Mac laptops/desktop would run here. Morever with the wireless internet, you can use it to run your existing internet instead of the WAP connections. So you can use the fast broadband. No wonder iPhone is being touted as the innovation of the century.
Its a not a good businees Phone. If you are looking for businees phone go for windows mobile like HTC touch, which only caost half and have double features of iphone. If you are looking for music and basic phone features, then go for ihpone. I don't think it worth the money spend.

Windows Mobile sucks. Written by M$ programmers, the display slows down quite a lot if you have so many address book entries. Also be prepared for the phone to get reset many times if you have Windows Mobile. I use my O2 only as a PDA and have reverted back to a trusted combination (Nokia Symbian). But I miss the touch screen. And will wait for iPhone to get launched
