Stop population control to Bring back the old glory of Bangalore
by Nitin sharma on Sep 27, 2007 02:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Bangalore--Once known as the Garden City of India, is no more the Garden City of India , rather i should say it has become the city of Concrete Jungle, just look at the number of buildings that have crop up in the city, so many trees have been cut to give way to the roads that have been widened.

I still remember Bangalore being known as the pensioners paradise of India, the city where the old age people use to find a great atmosphere to live in, with so much greenery and fresh air, with so may parks etc, there is no doubt in the fact that Bangalore still has the best weather among all the cities of India, i feel so sad when i find all this gone (other than the weather)..

It is true that the growth of the IT sector can be attributed much to this problem, but this is not entirely true, even i am also working in the IT field and was living in Bangalore for more than two years, now i am living in Chennai..

IT sector has brought the cosmopolitan culture to the city of Bangalore, now you can find so many people from so many states working together in Bangalore, it is the IT field which has brought money to this City, in fact it is the uncontrolled growth of the population which has spoiled Bangalore, i wonder what might've been the population of Bangalore right now, with large influx of people entering Bangalore with limited size ,space , resources and civic amenities all these problems were bound to happen.

It would be better if the Government of India comes up with a

Distorted Fact
by Anand Bharadwaj on Sep 26, 2007 04:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think the author has not judged all the facts.
For example:
1. The Elevated Rail transport System is being built and is on track.
2. The trees that are cut for this project are plucked from the mother root and planted nearby. This is a huge success on MG road experimentation. Do not worry Bangalore will not lose trees because of road expansion.
3. BMTC- Bangalore's bus service was the first in the country to adhere to Bharat II (Euro I) emission standards.
4. The dust in bangalore is not from the vehicles, but from the construction activities all around the city.
5. The City is expanding radially in all directions and it is no more required for the commuter to criss cross the city if he needs to go from one end to other. (This is in sharp contrast to Mumbai, which has developed in linear fashion).

I suggest the author to live and experience in Bangalore first before writing this article, somewhere in Delhi.

I doubt if you live in Bangalore and drive to your work on a two wheeler; or get your window panes down if you drive by a four wheeler. The author is 100% right in all the points.
