I sincerely hope that these economic projections turn out to be true. But one thing we have to be concerned about is that we do not end up being like western countries with broken families, lack of morality, degradation of women to sexual objects, lack of respect for elders etc. We must learn all positive traits from westerners but outright reject what is nor good for us.
We need able and educated leaders in all spheres of society - business, education, agriculture, religion, spirituality etc.
India is not only the golden bird, Bharat is also the lone spiritual beacon in this despicable world of selfishness and self gratification. If spirituality was being converted to Gold, each and everything in India will be made up of solid Gold.
I hope we understand our responsibilities and refrain from 100% aping the faulty society of West and rise in glory far far exceeding our glorious past. Jai Hind.

I would also urge my brethrens in Northern BIMARU states (unfortunately) to take a cue from the hard working people of South and Panjab and work hard for success. All Indians have the capability to realise Bangalore, Chennai and Gurgaon in every city, and the Amul revolution in every village. Shun the attitudes of laziness and crab mentality, and embrace industry and hard work.

you should be ashamed using derogatory word BIMARU against part of your own country. When India was fighting independence war , this so called BIMARU state were actively involved, the southern parts of india and king of punjanb aligned with britishers and we lost 1857. since northern state fought for independence these areas were suppressed most, leaving them behind for centuries.
Golden Bird will fly only if it continues working towards progress. It has to work on the infrastructure or this whole thing will come crashing down. Good news is that India is diverting some FDI towards Infrastructure development . A late but sound decision.
The citizens empowered with RTI should keep checks on all these infrastructure projects.
It seems Indians would argue about every thing and not even feel happy when someone says nice things about us. Anyway most of the people on this board argue about two things 1) Was India so rich in past ? 2) Will India BE so rich in 2025 ? Ans 1) YES India was rich in past. It was the reason why mogul, Europeans, etc wanted to control India. India had 23% share in world trade before British took over. But it doesn't mean all Indians were rich. Ans 2) Will India BE so rich again? YES it will be because we are basically same as our ancestors back then, same habits (like saving, family orientation, etc) so may be not by 2025 but we will be rich again. But still it doesn't mean all Indians will be rich.
the report provided here...seems to look to much positive about India..to be believed..may be some of this comes true then it should be great..consider the practical aspects...although..accepting the fact the salaries and earning will grow...the report still states India will be developing..nation...on per capita basis...
this thing clearly reflects...the pressure of huge Population on growing economy...which if managed effectively...can lead to higher per capita income..and changing it from developing to developed country..(this provided other things remaining as stated in the report....

Man, have you heard of paradime shift?? All looks too optimistic.. But it is going to happen!!
Check the intolerance of Jehadis( not muslims!) who pick on a word.... These barbarians would never acknowledge the contribution of their hate (India wiothout british power) has contributed to enlighten many european revolutionaries.
As the marxist historian, after touching his class struggle holybook of marx would claim, the utopia is in future, when all the property would be owned by the state, that is by the thugs of communist party. The marxist historian uses class struggle to disown the history that existed before the prophet.
Some messages below thus picks on 'romantic history'... for the whole lot of maoists the poverty, the colony were ineviatble. They disown the golden bird, that was not what their prophet said.

Hey man, don't be skeptical, as capitalism and trade is the answer for today's problems, marksism is the answer for tomorrow.
Human destiny is in a global democracy, else all will perish, we'll kill each other.
While it is hard to dispute that Indian economy is looking good and could continue to do well in the future, I see the gap between the urban rich and the rural areas widening. I have noticed the dip in the standard of living of the villages. While I was a kid, the villagers were generally very content with what they had. It used to be full of life. Today, the problems in the rural areas has only increased. No youth wants to stay in the village. They see only the mega cities as the place to live, leaving behind their families and elders in most cases. Once they come to the city, they are overwhelmed by the lifestyle. Most of them cannot earn, as they are not equipped with the necessary skills. They end up in the slum like areas with appalling living conditions. Their frustration level increase and they are confused on the future. The need of the hour from the government is to ensure that there is short and long term plans to address the poor (both rural and urban). Ensure new cities are created with better plan for the future. Ensure the rural people get employment in their villages or nearby towns, so they don't get the feeling of fish out of water. Create better schools and colleges in small towns. Unless this happens, the Golden bird could fly, but leaving behind the rest of the flock. Is this what the nation needs
I am sure somebody is perhaps referring to the RamaRajya that flourished for over 1100 Years- whether you beleive it or not. I donot think this economic status never returned to India after that period. If there was no truth in the existing of Rama Rajya, it is be almost like saying the Dynosaure never existed on earth. We sincerely hope this age returns again, but the author seesm to have forgotten totally about the flip side of the story like the ills that would be afflicting this golden bird then. Nobody is refering to the RamaRajya. Check the economic scenario of India during the Mughal age and you would get the answer.

Wake Up!! McKinsey has made this report for those who are interested in selling a lot in India. So, for them, it's a huge market with more than a Billion people with ample of resources to produce from. In short, a place where huge profits can be made ealisy. (Please note, it does not talk about real prosperity in all terms even other than economic - like peaceful life , sense of security etc.) This same feel of a huge market in a resouce-rich country is the one that brought foreigners here centuries ago. So, this report by McKinsey can be said to be similar to reports by visitors to India before or during the invasions!!
There is a lot said about distribution of wealth in all classes. An intersting parameter suggested by an economist to measure health of an economy is, difference in average incomes of top few percent and bottom few perecnt people. It may address concerns raised by many in the discussion below.
