Just another political game
by deven zaveri on Jul 20, 2007 07:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It makes no sense passing such an order as the law makers are the law breakers them selves first. look into the government offices first mr health minister......and they say people can smoke on the roads if they want, so aren;t people there on the roads walking...

Instead of talking like this, try telling people to avoid smoking. If not able to appreciate the act by Minister. Anbumani Ramadoss, try avoiding the demotivation of the people.

I mean we all accept the concept of Bollywood copying hollywood, but this is too much, Parliament copying Westminster....this law seems to have influenced after England made a law to ban smoking in Public places, nothing wrong about this, good things if copied are good...

But tell me, india we dont stop when the signal is red, what the hell is this law going to do !!!

Bollaks !!

I remember in TN, all houses had implemented the rain water harvesting in less than 6 months time. If this happens, why not this rule.. Its all in our hands only. Lets join our hands and support this act fully.

How About Chewing Tobacco
by Avinash Murkute on Jul 20, 2007 06:44 PM  Permalink

Dear Minister,
Please recall that we already have a law banning tobacco chewing in government offices. How this law was implemented?

You are gifting us one more law. So it will surely be applicable to GOI offices too. Let us plan for strict implementation of "your" law this time.

My suggestion: Would you mind giving incentives to those reporting breach of law.

Why allow smoking on roads?
by Ashok S on Jul 20, 2007 06:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

"People can then smoke on roads or homes, provided their wives allow them," he said!

Dr.Ramadoss, Roads are public places, aren't they?

Don't you think people who walk on the roads won't get affected by passive smoking?

I think you must also implement the ban on smoking in public places.

Whoever has awarded you the World Health Organisation Director-General's Special Award should think of this too.

We must forgive this minister for making such statements, because he has virtually not done anything for the health of this nation except making noises on irrelevant issues.

It needs to be curtailed
by Mridul Sharma on Jul 20, 2007 06:38 PM  Permalink

It is not the quantum of punishment that will deter a person from smoking but certainly the certainity of punishment will do the job
